"On our way back, we were ambushed."

As Philip's words fell, Sauros's expression visibly stiffened. His face twitched, and he erupted in anger, lifting his leg to kick Philip once more!

This time, the kick was far more forceful, sending Philip tumbling to the ground and even bouncing slightly.

Sylphie, who had been glancing at Allen, who had been unusually silent until now, quickly ran to Philip's side to cast a healing spell.

Philip simply waved his hand, indicating he was fine, and calmly stood up without saying a word.

Sauros retracted his leg, giving Philip a deep look. He then scanned the group, his gaze finally settling on Allen. After a moment of contemplation, his eyes narrowed as if the sunlight was too bright.

Suddenly, he spoke.

His voice was thunderous!

But the content of his words caused Sylphie, Rudy, and Eris to freeze in place.

"A tutor can stay. Those two kids can remain. Eris needs a magic teacher; I know that."

"But—"

"That tall one over there? No! For swordsmanship, Ghislaine alone is enough!"

"As for the ambush, we'll investigate it slowly!"

"Grandpa! I want Allen to be my tutor!"

Eris glanced anxiously at Allen, struggling in Sauros's arms, but he held her tightly.

"Grandpa!!"

"Allen saved me! I want Allen to be my tutor!!"

"Silence!!"

"Grandpa!!"

Sauros shot a glance at Allen, then turned to walk toward the distant mansion.

Thomas, who had been standing respectfully beside him, subtly gulped and followed with stiff steps.

Philip, still on the ground, glanced at Thomas and was about to say something.

At that moment.

Allen moved.

He casually patted Sylphie's head as she ran back to him, then turned to Ghislaine, who had been watching him.

"About what I asked earlier, please take care of it."

Without waiting for Ghislaine's response, he took a step forward.

In an instant, he was beside Sauros.

The morning sunlight flickered in everyone's eyes.

In that flash of light, blood sprayed through the air!

"Ahhh!!!"

Two severed wrists, gushing blood, fell to the ground.

Allen and Sauros passed each other, their eyes meeting for a brief moment.

Sauros looked astonished.

Allen's expression remained impassive.

Their gazes parted.

Allen suddenly reached out, grabbing Thomas's head by the hair. In front of everyone's stunned eyes, he dragged the master swordsman to the ground, hauling him like a stray dog toward the fountain.

Blood gushed from the severed wrists, painting a long, crimson trail on the white stone ground, smeared by Thomas's thrashing legs.

Allen turned to look at the group, then spoke gently to the struggling Thomas.

"Here, take a deep breath."

Thomas, horrified, glared at Allen and opened his mouth to curse.

"You little—"

Before he could finish, Allen shoved his head into the fountain!

Thomas struggled violently! Their battle aura exploded around the fountain, sending water splashing everywhere!

Yet Allen's arm didn't even tremble.

Amidst the sound of splashing water, Allen's calm, leisurely voice rang out clearly in everyone's ears.

"Want to know someone's 'secret'? Is it hard? No, it's simple. Just place 'death' in front of them, make them stare at it, feel the fear, and the secret will naturally reveal itself."

"But here's the problem."

"If the consequences of revealing this 'secret' are severe, even threatening the safety of their entire family, then the fear of death becomes less potent. They know death is just a moment."

"A moment, and then comes relief."

"If death isn't so terrifying, why not refuse to reveal the secret, grit your teeth, and maybe there's a chance of survival, right?"

"So, what to do?"

"The answer is—"

"Keep them lingering on the edge of death, staring at it, continuously feeling the fear."

"Once their mind breaks, the 'secret' is no longer a secret."

Allen smiled, looking directly into Sauros's eyes.

"This is the purpose of interrogation. Simple, fast, effective, and perfectly suited to this era."

As soon as he finished speaking, he yanked Thomas out of the water. The man gasped for air, having been cursing Allen the moment he was submerged. Now, furious, he tried to speak again.

But Allen shoved him back into the water.

Thomas struggled once more. A stream of bubbles rose to the surface, popping loudly. His legs scraped against the ground, and soon.

The hem of his finely tailored pants frayed into shreds, mixing with the sticky blood as it smeared across the ground.

Under the sunlight, the water from the fountain washed over it, turning it a reddish-orange.

Everyone stared in shock at his legs, the painful, desperate movements reflected in their eyes.

Helpless, suffocating, unable to resist, trapped in darkness, senses blocked.

Lingering on the edge of death, continuously, relentlessly staring at it.

Yet unable to embrace it.

This...

Was waterboarding.

Sauros watched this scene, his eyes slowly narrowing as he stared at Allen. Allen, sensing his gaze, looked back indifferently.

He pulled Thomas out of the water again. The man gasped for air, then immediately blurted out.

"Stop!! Stop this!! What do you want? I'm the lord's butler... Ugh!!"

Thomas was shoved back into the water. Allen's battle aura pressed down on his face, keeping him submerged as he struggled in vain.

But this time, Allen quickly pulled him out.

Thomas gasped for air, his face pale as he stared at the rippling water, clearly having forgotten the pain of his severed wrists.

"You... What do you want...! What are you doing!! Stop this!!"

Allen, sensing that Thomas had completely stopped releasing his battle aura, smiled gently. He leaned down, his face close to Thomas's, and spoke slowly, each word deliberate and forceful.

"I just want to ask you a simple question, which is—"

"Who did you leak Mayor Philip's travel plans to?"

Thomas froze, quickly glancing at Sauros in the distance, then answered without hesitation.

"I didn't!"

Allen looked into Thomas's eyes.

"Liar."

A tremendous force pressed down on Thomas's head, and he screamed in panic!

"Stop!!"
