chapter 132: still waiting

Chapter [X] – A Losing Battle

Elias barely made it back to his room before his legs gave out.

His back hit the door as he slid down, hands trembling, breath coming too fast—too uneven.

Damn him.

Damn that man.

Elias clenched his fists, nails biting into his palms, willing himself to steady. He had faced worse than this. Had survived worse.

And yet, this—

This was something else.

The Alpha wasn't breaking him with violence or threats. He wasn't using brute force.

No.

He was using something far more dangerous.

Patience.

Persistence.

Pleasure.

Elias squeezed his eyes shut, but it didn't help.

The Alpha's voice still curled around his thoughts, still whispered against his skin.

"Because you look like a man who dreamt of something very, very real."

Elias sucked in a breath, forcing his mind elsewhere.

Focus.

He needed to focus.

This wasn't just a game.

This was a battlefield.

And if he wasn't careful, he'd lose before he even realized he was fighting.

He pushed himself up, shaking off the moment, shoving the Alpha's words into the deepest corners of his mind. He refused to let them settle. Refused to let them take root.

There were more important things at stake.

Like survival.

Like the truth

Meanwhile

The Alpha watched the door Elias had disappeared behind, the smirk on his lips lingering.

Oh, his little one was unraveling beautifully.

But not enough.

Not yet.

The Alpha turned, heading back to his quarters, his thoughts lazily circling the events of the night before.

Elias thought it had been a dream.

How adorable.

How wrong.

The Alpha hadn't expected to slip up that night, to let his impulses drive him straight to Elias's bedside, to touch him, to let himself get too close.

But he didn't regret it.

Not a single second of it.

Because now?

Elias was questioning.

Doubting.

Losing.

And soon, very soon—

He'd stop fighting altogether.

And that was when the real fun would begin.
