chapter 146: can't stop

The Alpha barely made it three steps outside the Omega's chambers before he smelled it.

A scent so potent, so utterly intoxicating, it stopped him in his tracks.

His breath hitched.

His grip on the doorframe tightened.

No.

It couldn't be.

Not now.

Not him.

But the scent—

It curled around him like a vice, thick and cloying, drowning out everything else. A scent that was Elias but richer, heavier, laced with something feral and raw.

A scent that called to him.

A scent that begged.

The Alpha's jaw clenched, his heartbeat hammering against his ribs.

It wasn't just any heat.

It was Elias's heat.

Triggered. Amplified. Corrupted by the drug still burning in his veins.

The combination was lethal.

The Alpha knew exactly how unbearable it was.

How it would tear through Elias's mind, reducing everything to need, to ache, to a desperation so consuming that nothing—nothing—could sate it but him.

He dragged a shaky breath in through his nose, and it was a mistake.

Because the scent hit him even harder.

His hands shook.

His own instincts—deep, primal, ravenous—surged up, roaring for control.

Mine.

He swore under his breath, pressing his knuckles against the stone wall.

This wasn't supposed to happen.

Elias wasn't supposed to—

The Alpha exhaled harshly, forcing himself to step away.

He should leave.

He had to leave.

Because if he turned around now—if he so much as looked at that door again—

He wouldn't stop.

Wouldn't be able to stop.

And Elias—

Elias was not ready for that.

But as he moved to walk away, a sound reached him.

A small, broken noise.

Muffled. Shaky.

The kind that didn't even know it was being made.

The Alpha froze.

Another sound.

Softer.

A whimper.

Low. Needy.

No.

His hands curled into fists.

He wouldn't go back.

Wouldn't touch him.

But then—

"Please…"

It was faint.

Barely there.

But it shattered him completely.

His restraint snapped.

His control burned away.

but he controlled his steps to not filter and promised to come back later when his h ad cools down.

He wanted to play games but not like this
