chapter 158: a twist in the game

Elias's pulse thundered beneath the Alpha's fingertips, each beat a testament to his internal struggle. The room seemed to shrink around them, the air thick with unspoken tension.

"You're trembling," the Alpha observed, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down Elias's spine.

Elias bit down harder on his lip, the metallic tang of blood sharp on his tongue. He refused to give in, to let the haze cloud his mind entirely. But the Alpha's presence was overwhelming, a constant pressure that eroded his defenses.

"Why do you resist?" The Alpha's thumb brushed over Elias's cheek, a touch both gentle and possessive. "Your body knows what it needs."

A choked sound escaped Elias's throat, a mixture of defiance and desperation. He couldn't—wouldn't—surrender to this primal pull, this instinctual demand that threatened to consume him.

The Alpha's eyes softened, a flicker of something akin to understanding passing through them. "It's alright to let go," he murmured, his breath warm against Elias's skin. "To embrace what you are."

"No," Elias rasped, his voice barely more than a whisper. "I won't."

A sigh escaped the Alpha, a sound filled with patience and resolve. "Very well," he said softly. "Then I'll wait. But know this, Elias—denying your nature won't change it."

With that, the Alpha released his grip, stepping back to give Elias space. The sudden absence of his touch left Elias feeling unmoored, adrift in a sea of conflicting emotions.

As the haze slowly began to recede, Elias drew in a shaky breath, his mind racing. He had resisted this time, but deep down, he knew the battle was far from over.
