The Gathering Storm

Emma and Rahi rushed through the winding corridors, the Topaz Stone glowing faintly in Emma's palm. The Labyrinth of Veil had lost its grip—its shifting walls no longer moving to trap them.

They had won.

But Emma couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

"The storm and the tide must meet. Only together can they defy fate."

She clenched the stone tighter. Two stones were now in her possession, but the Eclipse King's words haunted her.

"When you find the next stone… you'll come to me."

Rahi kept his dagger drawn as they ran. "No Nightborn yet. That's never a good sign."

Emma nodded. "He's waiting. Watching."

They reached the Labyrinth's exit, stepping onto an open plateau beneath the night sky. The moon hung heavy and crimson, casting an eerie glow over the land.

And then—

A ripple in the air.

Emma froze.

From the shadows, a figure stepped forward.

The Eclipse King.

He stood at the edge of the plateau, his golden eyes gleaming, the Onyx Stone pulsing at his throat.

"You succeeded," he mused, voice smooth as silk. "I knew you would."

Emma glared at him, raising the Sapphire and Topaz Stones. "If you're here to take them, you'll have to fight for it."

He smiled. "Fight you? No, Emma. I came to tell you the truth."

The wind howled between them.

"You still don't understand what you are, do you?" the Eclipse King said. His voice was calm, almost… knowing.

Emma's grip tightened. "I know enough."

He took a slow step forward. "Then tell me—why do the stones answer only to you?"

Emma opened her mouth—then stopped.

Because she didn't know.

The Eclipse King's smirk deepened. "You think this is a simple game of good and evil? That I want the stones for power alone?"

His golden eyes burned. "Emma, the world is dying. And only the stones can rewrite its fate."

Rahi stepped in front of her. "We're not playing your game."

The Eclipse King tilted his head. "Oh, but you already are."

Emma's heart pounded. The Topaz Stone flickered in her hand—as if reacting to his words.

"You will come to understand soon," the Eclipse King murmured. "And when you do… you'll realize we are not so different, you and I."

Then, with a wave of his hand, the shadows swallowed him whole.

The air settled.

Emma exhaled sharply, her mind spinning.

Rahi muttered, "I hate that guy."

Emma couldn't respond.

Because for the first time, she wasn't sure if the Eclipse King was lying.

And that terrified her.
