Chapter 9:Scaling the Hustle

Chapter 9: Scaling the Hustle

Nathan sat in his room, staring at his phone screen.

His study guide business was growing fast—too fast.

At first, it was just a handful of students buying notes for $5 each. But word spread, and soon, students from other grades were asking for help with different subjects.

His current problem? He didn't have time to make all the study guides himself.

Nathan exhaled. If I want to scale this up, I need a system.

Building a Team

Nathan reached out to some of the smartest students in school—the ones who had top grades but didn't care about popularity or competing for scholarships.

He found two students willing to join:

Aaron, a math whiz who could solve equations in minutes.

Sophia, a history expert who had a way of summarizing textbooks into simple key points.

Nathan made them a deal:

"For every study guide we sell, I'll give you 40% of the earnings."

They agreed.

Now, instead of doing all the work himself, Nathan's business ran on teamwork.

Automating Sales

To make ordering easier, Nathan set up a Google Form.

Students could fill out what subject they needed help with, and within a few hours, they'd get a custom-made study guide.

Payment was handled through cash or mobile transfers.

The system was running smoothly, and by the end of the week, Nathan checked his balance:

[Balance: $254.25]

He had officially crossed $250.

But then, something unexpected happened.

Jordan Makes His Move

Nathan was walking toward the cafeteria when a group of students blocked his way.

They weren't just random students.

They were Jordan's friends.

Jordan stepped forward, smirking. "I hear you've been running another business."

Nathan stayed calm. "What's it to you?"

Jordan grinned. "Just letting you know that the school's cracking down on paid homework help. Apparently, some teacher found out, and now they're watching for it."

Nathan narrowed his eyes.

"Let me guess—you told them?"

Jordan shrugged. "I don't have to. People talk."

Nathan clenched his jaw. Jordan was doing it again—trying to get him shut down.

But Nathan had already planned for this.

If the school was watching for paid homework help, then he'd just pivot again.

He smirked. "Thanks for the warning."

Jordan frowned, confused.

Nathan walked past him, already thinking about his next move.

If Jordan wanted to play dirty, then Nathan would play smarter.

And this time, he'd make sure Jordan couldn't stop him.
