Chapter 4 - Shizuka Discovers a New World

Teacher's Office

Hiratsuka Shizuka sat back in her chair, arms crossed, her sharp eyes scrutinizing the young man standing before her.

"An outsider sneaking into the school, deceiving female students and a certain airheaded teacher."

"Just these two points alone are enough for me to call the police and have you arrested."

"So, tell me, who exactly are you?"

Kaito sighed. "If I told you that I was just planning to take Yotsuya Miko as my disciple, and that the whole prostration thing was entirely their idea, would you believe me?"

"Take her as your disciple?" Shizuka's expression grew even more dangerous. "It seems like you really want to spend some time in juvenile detention, huh?"

Although the young man before her wasn't her student, he was still a kid. He didn't look like one of those delinquents who rode around on noisy motorcycles. There was still hope for him. If possible, Shizuka didn't want to call the police and have him arrested. After all, that would leave a permanent mark on his record, causing him trouble for the rest of his life.

"How should I put this..." Kaito said, raising his hand. "Let me show you something."

He activated the Five Thunder Spell, and instantly, blue-purple arcs of electricity crackled around his palm.

Shizuka's eyes widened as she watched Kaito point at a potted plant on her desk. A flash of lightning struck, and when she looked over, the once lush green pothos she had watered that morning was now completely charred, beyond recognition.

Before she could mourn the death of her plant, Shizuka stared at Kaito in disbelief, her lips forming a perfect 'O' shape.

"You...?"

"And this," Kaito continued, summoning a sword out of thin air with a wave of his hand. With a swift slash, another potted plant in the room was cleanly cut in half.

"And also—"

Before Kaito could demonstrate anything else, Shizuka quickly raised her hand to stop him.

"I believe you! I believe you!" she exclaimed. If she didn't stop him now, all the plants in her office would be dead!

Kaito put away the sword and sat back down in the chair.

"You heard about Yotsuya Miko fainting this morning, right?" he explained. "She saw a spirit. She has the ability to see spirits, which makes her unique. I wanted to take her as my disciple and teach her the Thunder Spell. The prostration thing was entirely her idea."

"As for Marikawa Shizuka," Kaito continued, "after I showed Miko how to exorcise the spirit attached to Shizuka, she started pestering me to take her as a disciple too. She just randomly knelt down with Miko. It was completely unexpected."

Although it all sounded incredibly far-fetched, Shizuka had no choice but to believe him. The two dead potted plants in her office were undeniable evidence.

"Do you have any identification?" Shizuka asked.

"No."

"Do you have a driver's license?"

"No..."

"Do you at least have a phone?"

"That I do have."

Earlier in the day, Kaito had asked Rin for a phone so he wouldn't be bored. After confirming that the phone number worked and realizing she had to get back to class, Shizuka finally let Kaito leave.

"Sensei!"

"Sensei!"

When Kaito returned, both Yotsuya Miko and Marikawa Shizuka looked at him with excitement.

"Don't call me 'Sensei' yet," Kaito said. "I haven't decided whether to take you as my disciples. First, I need to check if you have the potential."

"Yes, please examine my bones, Sensei!" Miko said with utmost sincerity.

Shizuka, following Miko's lead, also said, "Yes, please examine my bones, Sensei!"

Kaito walked over to Miko and placed his hand on her shoulder, then proceeded to check various parts of her body. No rewards were triggered, but after a thorough examination, Kaito smiled.

"Congratulations, Miko. You have excellent potential."

"Would you like to learn the Thunder Spell from me?"

"Please teach me, Sensei!" Miko said, her face filled with excitement, almost on the verge of tears.

Finally, finally, she could see an end to the nightmare of being haunted by spirits!

"Sensei, what about me?" Shizuka immediately hugged Kaito, her ample chest pressing against his arm as she looked at him with pleading eyes.

"I want my bones examined too!"

[Conditions met, triggering a new trait!]

[Congratulations, host! You have acquired the trait: Great Fortune!]

[Great Fortune]: Your luck far exceeds that of ordinary people. Even in dangerous situations, you can always turn things around.

Kaito glanced at his status panel and saw that his Luck had risen from E to A. He let out a sigh of relief. Finally, he wasn't stuck with Luck E anymore.

In a much better mood, Kaito pulled his arm free and put on a stern expression.

"Behave yourself and stand over there!"

"Yes, Sensei!" Shizuka immediately stood obediently to the side, her eyes still fixed on him.

Kaito then proceeded to examine Shizuka's potential. After the examination, he couldn't help but look at her with surprise.

"Sensei, how's my potential?" Shizuka asked eagerly.

"Although your potential isn't as good as Miko's, it's still quite decent."

"Are you sure you want to learn the Thunder Spell from me?"

"I do!" Shizuka exclaimed with joy, throwing herself at Kaito in another enthusiastic hug.

"Alright, that's enough," Kaito said, though he was enjoying it, he still had to maintain a serious demeanor.

"I'll write you a list of items."

"Gather everything on the list, and I'll help you with the body tempering process over the weekend."

Miko raised her hand.

"Go ahead."

"Sensei, I live with my mom, so it might not be convenient."

"Then come to my place," Shizuka said, still clinging to Kaito's arm. "I live with a friend, but she's not home often. It's usually just me."

And so, after writing down the list of ingredients needed for the Thunder Spell body tempering and exchanging phone numbers, Kaito arranged to meet them at Shizuka's house over the weekend to teach them the Thunder Spell.

With that, Kaito left the infirmary.

As he wandered through the school, Kaito realized that Sobu High was truly a place full of hidden talents. He recognized many familiar anime characters along the way.

Time flew by, and before he knew it, it was already 3 PM.

Rin had mentioned that she needed to set up something at the school, so Kaito decided to explore the club activity building. Soon, he found himself standing in front of a door with a sign that read "Kendo Club."

He had seen the Kendo Club on the first floor earlier, where it was bustling with activity. But here, on the fifth floor, it was eerily quiet.

Curious, Kaito slid the door open.

Inside, he saw a girl wearing a kendo uniform, her figure strikingly voluptuous. She was kneeling on the floor, her eyes slowly opening to reveal deep purple irises that reflected his image.

"Saeko Busujima?"
