Season 1: Rise of the Villain
Episode 30: The Ghosts in the Dark
The scent of gunpowder lingered in the air. Javier Montoya's lifeless body slumped against the marble wall, blood pooling beneath him.
Damien clenched his fists. Black Sun had beaten him to the kill. They didn't just want Montoya dead—they wanted to remind Damien that they were always one step ahead.
Vega crouched beside the body, examining the bullet casing left behind. "They weren't covering Montoya's tracks," he muttered. "They were sending a message."
Damien's jaw tightened. "They want me to know they're watching."
Jean's voice crackled through their earpieces. "Whatever this is, we don't have time to stand around. Security's on high alert. We need to go. Now."
Alarms blared throughout the villa. Heavy footsteps thundered in the hallways as Montoya's remaining men realized their boss was dead.
"Exit's compromised," Nikolai's voice came through. "I count at least ten hostiles between you and the front gate."
Damien didn't hesitate. "Plan B. Rooftop extraction."
Vega nodded. "Got it."
The two of them moved quickly, taking out guards in the dimly lit corridors. Knives flashed. Silenced pistols coughed. Bodies dropped before they could make a sound.
By the time they reached the upper floor, the rooftop was in sight.
Then—gunfire erupted.
One of Montoya's lieutenants had spotted them. Bullets ripped through the air, forcing them into cover.
"Jean!" Damien barked. "Where's our exit?"
Jean's voice came through. "Working on it. You need a distraction?"
"Do it."
Seconds later, a car bomb exploded outside the villa, shaking the entire building. The moment of chaos was all Damien needed.
He and Vega sprinted to the rooftop. Nikolai was already there, rifle slung over his shoulder, a rope ladder hanging from a waiting helicopter.
Vega went up first. Damien followed—but as he grabbed the ladder, a final bullet grazed his shoulder.
Pain flared through him, but he didn't let go.
Nikolai fired two quick shots, dropping the last shooter before climbing in.
As the helicopter lifted off, Damien looked down. The villa was in flames. Montoya's empire was burning, but Black Sun was still out there.
And now, they had made their presence known.
Back at the safe house, Isabella stitched up Damien's shoulder while Elena watched from the doorway, her small hands gripping the frame.
She didn't speak, but her wide, knowing eyes said everything. She understood the danger.
Damien's heart twisted.
He had promised to keep her safe. But the longer this war dragged on, the harder that promise was to keep.
Jean entered, his expression grim. "I did some digging."
Damien looked up. "And?"
Jean handed him a tablet. "Black Sun didn't just take Montoya's contract. They've been eliminating his competition for weeks. This isn't just about you."
Damien scrolled through the data. Names. Photos. Dead men who had once been powerful players in the underworld.
His stomach turned.
"This isn't an assassination order," Vega muttered, reading over his shoulder. "It's a cleansing."
Damien exhaled sharply.
Black Sun wasn't just after him.
Someone was using them to reshape the criminal world.
And if Damien wanted to survive, he needed to find out who.
