Beren barely had time to process what was happening. One second, she was standing there, arguing with the most insufferable man on earth— and the next, Emir's lips were on hers.
Hard. Unyielding. Completely, devastatingly possessive.
She made a muffled noise of protest, but let's be real—was it really a protest? Because her hands were still pressed against his chest, but she wasn't pushing anymore.
And Emir? He knew it.
His smirk practically burned into the kiss as he tilted his head, deepening it, taking his sweet, wicked time.
Then, out of nowhere—
Beren bit him.
Hard.
Emir froze.
Beren pulled back, gasping, her lips tingling, her eyes wide. "Serves you right!" she snapped, wiping her mouth as if she could erase the pure insanity of what just happened.
Emir stared at her.
Then, **he touched his lip—**where a small, tiny speck of blood appeared.
Beren gulped. Uh-oh.
A slow, dark chuckle rumbled from his chest. "Butterfly," he murmured, licking the blood off his lip like it was the most normal thing in the world, "you just made a very, very bad move."
Beren stepped back. "Good. Now let me go—"
Emir stepped forward. "No."
She gasped when her back hit the nearest wall—again. Why did this keep happening?!
"Emir—"
His hands caged her in, palms flat against the wall on either side of her head.
His voice was dangerously amused. "You bite me, I bite back."
Beren blinked. "Wait, what—"
Before she could finish, Emir leaned in—and lightly bit her jaw.
"EMIR!"
"Haan, bolo?" he answered casually, lips grazing her skin like he wasn't currently ruining her life.
Beren slapped his shoulder. "You lunatic! You—"
Emir smirked. "You started it."
She shoved him back—which was like trying to move a boulder. "You're impossible!"
"And yet, you can't escape me."
Beren groaned, covering her face. "I hate you."
Emir chuckled, crossing his arms. "You sure about that?"
"YES."
His smirk widened. "Good. It'll be fun proving you wrong."
Beren turned on her heel and stormed toward the door, muttering curses under her breath.
Just as she was about to leave, she heard him say—
"By the way, next time you want to bite me, at least warn me first."
Beren grabbed the nearest book and launched it at his head.
