The Side Passage – Something Older Than the Ogryns
The tunnel was narrower and darker, its walls smoother than the rough cavern before. Unlike the rest of the dungeon, this place had been shaped, carved.
Tomas ran a hand along the stone. "This isn't Ogryn work."
Leila squinted at strange carvings along the walls—spirals, figures locked in battle, and something resembling a massive door.
Beren frowned. "So if they didn't build it, why are they here?"
No one had an answer.
Mira sighed, moving ahead. "Less thinking, more moving. Before another Ogryn warband—"
She stopped.
Everyone followed her gaze.
At the end of the passage stood a massive stone door, partially ajar, carved with intricate war sigils—but not just Ogryn symbols.
Something else.
Something older.
Tomas frowned. "That's… not just decoration."
Leila ran her fingers along the carvings. "This is a battle. Look."
The images on the door told a story—Ogryns fighting against creatures wrapped in shadows, massive figures locked in war, until finally—
A figure at the center sealed something away.
Mira crossed her arms. "That's a prison."
Beren narrowed his eyes. "A prison? Or a tomb?"
Leila scoffed. "What's the difference? Either way, we don't open it."
Tomas shook his head. "So the Ogryns aren't just invading this place. They're protecting it."
Leila exhaled. "That makes me feel so much worse."
Beren, ever helpful, swung Stonebreaker onto his shoulder. "Only one way to know what's inside, right?"
Mira threw up a hand. "Or—and hear me out—we don't open the ominous ancient door covered in battle warnings."
Tomas ignored them, staring at the cracked opening. "It's already open. Whatever's inside… something's waking up."
Leila tilted her head. "We should move. Now."
A deep rumbling shook the ground.
Dust rained from the ceiling. The door creaked open another inch—
And from inside the darkness beyond, something stirred.
Beren gripped his axe. "Well, that's probably not good."
Mira groaned. "I hate being right."
Tomas raised his shield, stepping in front of the group.
Whatever was inside the ruins, the Ogryns weren't just living here.
They were guarding it.
