Chapter Seven

Sarah stood before the gleaming glass doors of MediTech Solutions, adjusting her emerald green blazer one final time, she had been lost on what to wear on her feet. She did not know whether she should opt for comfort or style. The outfit had been carefully chosen, if there was one thing she learnt from her snobbish circle and her long list of never ending etiquettes she was forced to adopt at a young age was how to dress for the occasion.

Her choice had a goal in mind and that was even though she is a novice she is however professional enough to command respect, yet distinctive enough to make a statement. This was her first career big step and there was no way on earth she would take this for granted and not capitalise on it in all ramifications. This is what people love to categorise as a do-or-die situation for their careers, it was a defining moment, it felt as though she was working hard for the frst time.

Her heart hammered against her ribs, she discovered for the first time how fast and loud the heart could beat for the first time and although she could taste her nervousness at the tip of her tongue the Chen family genes ensured that her expression remained composed. This wasn't just any pitch meeting; this was her chance to prove herself.

The elevator ride to the 42nd floor gave her time to rehearse her opening lines one last time. She had never felt so nervous in her entire life, she could feel herself coming down with a panic attack, everything seemed to be spin out of control. Sarah had to steady herself she could not in no way self sabotage, this was important so she had to pep talk herself up for the occasion till her nerves calmed down.

As the elevator dinged upon reaching the 42nd floor and the doors opened, she rushed out and nearly collided with a tall figure who was also making his way into the elevator hurriedly.

She collided with a hard chest that had her head bouncing back with a oof escaping her mouth, she was on the verge of tumbling backwards and falling on her ass when strong hands grabbed her waist and moved to steady her, preventing her from stumbling.

Sarah was gobsmacked, she felt the sudden rush of electricity find its way into her body, this was something that had never happened to her before and it was no surprise she let out a sequel as the hand grabbed and stabilised her.

"I'm so sorry," a deep voice said, as he steadied her before taking his hands off her in a bid to give her the much needed space she deserved to collect herself together.

Sarah moved to adjust her clothes when her handbag fell down and the contents spilled on the floor of the elevator. He moved to gather the contents for her and that was when he noticed her drivers license. "Are you Sarah Chen?" the deep voice inquired.

She moved looked up to answer the question asked when she found herself staring into the most intense brown eyes she'd ever seen. Sarah was togue tied for a brief moment and as if he noticed her current challenge with speaking he moved to introduce himself.

With a smile on his face he said, "I am Tony Kane, your 10 am appointment. It is nice to finally meet you. Anna spoke highly of you."

Tony Kane was younger than she'd expected still staring she tried to guess his age and was of the opinion that he was probably in his mid-thirties. The man who stood before her with a charming smile of his face looked nothing like the stereotypical tech CEO she had initially imagined.

Her long Google search into who he was and what his personality was like immediately after her friend set the meeting had given her an insight of what to expect but his pictures online did not do him any justice as he was absolutely stunning in real life. His charcoal suit was impeccably tailored, but his tie was slightly loose, and there was a restless energy about him that seemed barely contained.

"Mr. Kane, a please to meet you. Yes, I am Sarah Chen," she responded, stepping back to regain her personal space. "I was just heading to your office."

"Tony," he corrected, he took a quick glance at his wristwatch indicating he was cautious of time as though he had somewhere to be at that specific moment. "And you're seven minutes early. I like that." Sarah Chen hoped she had imagined how his voice had sounded impressed and appreciative it was as though he was pleased to be graced by her presence.

Tony took a glance at his wrist watch once again before saying, "Though I was just heading out for coffee."

"Perfect timing then," Sarah replied smoothly, refusing to be thrown off balance. "We can discuss how I'm going to revolutionise your marketing strategy for your new service over caffeine."

A hint of amusement flickered across his face. "Pretty confident for someone who hasn't even seen our current strategy and for someone dabbling into the business of advertising for the very first time." Tony looked and sounded like someone up for a challenge. He stepped into the elevator and stood beside her before leading them to the third floor where they could discuss over coffee.

He could not help but feel as though having Sarah around would be so much fun.
