"You!" Giselle glared at him before the chaotic memories of New Year's Eve came rushing back. She softened her tone and said politely, "Hi, sorry for the trouble we caused. Do you work here?"
Her team, eager to know how Giselle knew this handsome guy, was full of questions. She could sense that once they got out of the meeting, she'd be bombarded with them.
Hesitantly, acting clueless, he replied, "Yes, I'm new here. Can you point me and my colleague to meeting room 400?" He gestured to the woman next to him, who looked confused but played along.
"Sure, we're heading to the same room. I think it's on the 5th floor," Giselle answered.
"Oh, okay, great. Let's head to the lift," he said.
"Do you have your ID? You'll need to swipe one to get upstairs," she reminded him.
Not wanting to blow his cover, he replied, "You go ahead to the meeting. I'll grab my ID and catch up."
As she entered the crowded area, filled with contractors and employees, Giselle searched for Victor, worried he wouldn't make it in time. But soon, her nerves shifted, and her mind became consumed with the anxiety of her upcoming presentation.
Just then, the doors opened, and in walked the long-awaited Director of Caldwell Innovations' Tech Section, Victor Caldwell. The room immediately quieted as everyone settled in, eager to get a glimpse of the 28-year-old tech visionary. Handsome, smart, and undeniably rich, Victor exuded confidence in every step he took. The women in the room couldn't help but steal glances, some already reaching for their phones to snap pictures of him.
Meanwhile, Giselle, still unaware of the stir he was causing, remained focused on her laptop, making last-minute adjustments to the presentation slides. Her team was slated to go first, with Giselle leading the charge.
After a brief moment of silence, the host stepped forward and announced, "Without further ado, let's kick things off. I'd like to call on Nimbis Technologies to present their first pitch."
