He was a guy wearing a black school uniform, undeniably handsome but with an air of rebelliousness that made it clear he had a bad temper and wasn't one to follow the rules.
Luo Shiyi had seen plenty of these types during her training. They were usually troublemakers, always ready to stir up conflict.
The girl's attempt to belittle Luo Shiyi was clearly meant to catch the guy's attention, and he certainly had the charm to make girls fight over him. Even with his non-mainstream blue hair, he was still strikingly attractive.
Luo Shiyi observed for a moment before shifting her gaze away, ignoring the whispers from the class and standing quietly at the podium.
There were no extra desks or chairs in Class 3, so Luo Shiyi's transfer meant someone would have to bring a new set.
"Can someone help the new student bring a desk and chair?"
No one responded. Not a single person volunteered to help Luo Shiyi.
This wasn't surprising. If it hadn't been for Mu Chuchu's earlier sarcastic remarks, many would have been willing to help. But after Mu Chuchu spoke, no one dared to step forward.
The reason the class listened to Mu Chuchu was because of the Mu family's influence in Nan City.
Just as no one dared to provoke the Shen family, the Mu family, though not as powerful as the Shens, was also untouchable in Nan City. When faced with choosing between the newly found Shen family member and the most favored child of the Mu family, everyone knew which side to pick.
The homeroom teacher's expression stiffened as she was about to ask again when Gu Ci kicked his lackey's chair.
The screech of the chair legs against the floor echoed through the classroom. The lackey stood up quickly and nudged the person next to him. "Teacher, we'll go."
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the two ran out of the classroom.
Soon, they returned with a desk and chair, placing it conveniently next to Gu Ci's seat.
Seeing this, the teacher could only let it go and instructed Luo Shiyi to take her seat.
Luo Shiyi raised an eyebrow, studying Gu Ci for a moment before walking over to her assigned spot.
Gu Ci propped his chin on his hand, eyeing Luo Shiyi with a lazy grin as she sat down beside him. "Hey, new girl. So, you're Shen Jiayi, huh? The Shen family's newly found daughter?"
Luo Shiyi tilted her head slightly, raising an eyebrow. "Got a problem?"
Gu Ci chuckled, leaning closer to her, his voice low and teasing. "You look so well-behaved, but you're actually pretty feisty."
His flirtatious gesture would have made most girls blush, but Luo Shiyi was no ordinary girl. Having grown up surrounded by men, she could trade dirty jokes without batting an eye. How could she be fazed by this?
Her expression remained unchanged as she calmly pushed his head away. "Don't disturb my studies."
Gu Ci wasn't fooled by her act. "You don't even have a book. What are you studying?"
He leaned in again, propping his chin on his hand as he gazed at her. "Besides, I'm way more interesting than any book. Look at me instead."
Luo Shiyi: "…"
She chose to ignore him.
The teacher's lecture was making her drowsy, but the sudden burst of frustrated shouting beside her jolted her awake. "Go! Go! Are these guys idiots? Such a perfect opportunity and they're not taking it?!"
"Ugh, I'm so mad! Does he even know how to play? Damn it, I'm dead! Someone save me!"
"Argh! I died again!"
The one shouting was the guy who had helped Luo Shiyi carry her desk earlier. He was a bit chubby, with a round face that gave him a comical appearance. Right now, he was venting his frustration over losing a game.
"Let me see."
Luo Shiyi reached over, and the guy froze, his face turning red as he fumbled to hand her his phone.
Since she had nothing better to do, her fingers danced across the screen as she took over the game.
Watching her play, Gu Ci's gaze lingered on her swift and precise movements.
The chubby guy, Zhou Miao, had been worried when he handed over his phone, but after seeing Luo Shiyi's dazzling performance, he realized she was a pro.
He leaned over, peering at the screen.
The teacher, noticing Zhou Miao practically leaning into Luo Shiyi's space, finally snapped. "Zhou Miao, get out and stand in the hallway!"
"Huh?"
Zhou Miao snapped out of his daze, his lips drooping as he mumbled a response and grabbed his books, heading out.
The rest of the class, somewhat intimidated by the teacher's outburst, settled down. However, Luo Shiyi and Gu Ci remained unfazed, completely unaffected.
The teacher glanced at the two troublesome figures at the back of the classroom, feeling a headache coming on. But he couldn't afford to offend either of them, so he simply turned away, choosing to ignore them.
Luo Shiyi continued playing games until the class ended.
As soon as the bell rang, Zhou Miao rushed back into the classroom, eagerly grabbing his phone from Luo Shiyi. When he saw the rank increase on his account, he let out a loud "Holy crap!"
His outburst drew the attention of several classmates. "What's wrong?"
"You're a pro!" Zhou Miao nearly kneeled before Luo Shiyi. His rank had skyrocketed by several levels. What kind of godly skills was this?
"Can we play together sometime?"
Luo Shiyi was casually tapping on her phone, her response indifferent. "Maybe."
Her attitude was somewhat haughty, but Zhou Miao didn't take offense. Instead, he felt this was exactly how a pro should act. He became even more sycophantic, earning him countless eye rolls from others, but he didn't care. He was determined to become Luo Shiyi's loyal sidekick.
Gu Ci watched Luo Shiyi with interest. "Didn't expect you to be so good at games."
"There's a lot you don't know about me."
Luo Shiyi was engrossed in a puzzle game on her phone, so her response was half-hearted.
Gu Ci didn't mind. His eyes, deep and seemingly full of emotion, remained fixed on Luo Shiyi. "How about we play together sometime?"
Gu Ci's features were sharp, his nose high-bridged, which made his eyes appear even more profound. When he gazed at someone intently, it gave the illusion of deep affection.
Seeing Luo Shiyi staring back at him, he seized the opportunity to lean in closer. "New girl, you're really interesting, and I'm very curious about you. I'm not bad looking, you know. How about we give dating a try?"
