Chapter 4: Biology Class

The class has started. 

All I want is to get through this class. We cannot change our partners unless there is a valid reason for doing so. 

"Today we will learn about DNA and RNA," says Ms Ross with a monotonic voice. 

I love biology but I think the teacher makes it uninteresting. 

"RNA is the first genetic material-" she continues.

Though it is boring, I am taking some notes. I still need to get a good GPA. No matter what I cannot let my GPA slip by. 

"You find this interesting?" Carlen asks

"I need the GPA" I reply. 

"What for?" He asks.

"I want to be a neuroscientist, grades are important to me," I reply.

"Ahh - I see," he says.

I continue to take down my notes. The class is over. 

"I think you are the only one who took the notes," Elara says admiring my efforts. 

"Well it will be worth it before the exams, what is your next class?" I ask.

"Chemistry! What about you?" She replies.

"OMG, same!" I say.

"Well see you around," she says as she leaves.

I pack my stuff and call for Chelsea. She is waiting for me. 

"You have Chemistry?" Carlen asks as I am leaving.

"Why do you have Chemistry too?" I back questioned. 

"Yeah," he replies in a dead voice. 

"People who get the same class have to sit together in the same place. This year's school rules have changed," the speakers said. 

Talk about timing. It's the new principal. Our school system has changed for this year, and I am not sure how long are they gonna keep it. It was not a bother earlier so I forgot to even think about it. 

For some reason, I am not comfortable with Carlen. Though I have nothing to complain about, he seems off. 

"Carlen we have to discuss something before Chemistry class," says Lucifer. Aurelius has left with Elara. 

Carlen goes with him and I go out with Chelsea. 

"So the new popular kids are sitting with us huh?" Chelsea says.

"Seems so," I reply.

"Though Elara does not seem bad rather kind," I add.

"Yeah, I like her energy too! However, I cannot say that for the rest of the group," she says.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"That Lucifer guy did not talk at all," she says.

"Why do you want to be friends with him?" I say teasingly.

"No…! It's just… well… he, Carlen, and Aurelius were just staring at other students as if they were searching for something… or someone." She says.

"Wait, Carlen?" I ask. "Was I too taken back by biology notes that I did not notice it?" I think. 

"Yeah. Something seems off about them, be careful Rin," she says with concern.

"There is nothing we can do, seems like we get a lot of classes together," I reply.

Which is bizarre when I think about it. However, I let it slide we just have two classes in common… I hope.

Hope is a gamble.
