"What are you all talking about? Also stop referring to me as my lady," I say
I can see that they are far from giving up on me. The teacher arrives, I have never been so delighted to see a teacher arrive before.
Her name is Miss Merry, she is quite stubborn and righteous. The thing I admire the most about her is that she will treat everyone fairly. She never sees anyone as a weak student or a strong student and has faith in everyone. She can be strict I guess, but she is nice.
"I request everyone to be seated," Miss Merry says.
She has been my Chemistry teacher for the past three years, I cannot imagine chemistry without her. She always has her black hair tied up in a bun and follows the dress codes. Today she is wearing formal attire. We still do not know who is our homeroom teacher, but I wish it would be her.
Everyone gets back to their desk. I have never been so delighted for a class to start. What do they even mean by a lost princess? I wonder. I know for a fact that I should be away from whatever they are searching for. For some reason, it seems out of comfort for me.
Unluckily enough Carlen is sitting beside me. It is kind of awkward since he just refers to me as 'my lady,' I am no royal. In fact, royals are pretty low in amount nowadays.
I try to brush off my thoughts as the chemistry lecture has started. After the class, I decide to make a run for it. Imagine strangers asking if you are the lost princess. You can have two options, you will either be curious to know about it or just let it slide. I, on the other hand, want to go as far as this group.
I find myself entangled with this group from the start.
"If you think I am going to be as quiet with you as in the Biology class, I would not," he says.
"Then I can just complain to the teacher," I reply.
"I want to see you try," he says.
"Today we will start with organic chemistry-" she starts her lecture.
I take out my notebook and start scribbling. Though Carlen says that he will ask me questions, he is quiet. I remember Chelsea's warning.
Is he still checking other students, I wonder. I look at him with my side-eye. Our eyes meet. I am embarrassed, he… he is staring at me?
"I thought you were taking down your notes," he says.
I resume my note-taking. Why is the teacher not saying anything about it? I kind of want her to scold him for not focusing on class, but it will only bring me unwanted attention.
The last thing I want today is to mingle in a gossip of love.
It is the last five minutes of class. Each class or lecture is of 50 minutes. The teacher is simply talking about the syllabus in general now, I do not think she will give us homework today. It is the first day of school anyway.
I put my notebook inside my bag, and get ready to make an exit right when the bell rings. Miss Merry will be there so I can just get out with her.
That way I will escape them. I have five more classes after this. Now I have given up on hope. For all reasons, they might just have the same class as me next. I cannot call it stalking since Biology, Chemistry and Physics fall under Science along with Maths. Most people I observed have the same combination.
"If you are thinking of making a run for it, I will not allow it," he says.
"And who are you to lecture me around?" I protest.
"Have you truly forgotten everything?" He asks.
"What do you mean? I am sure you have some wrong person. Also, you just do not go asking around people if they are the lost princess based on some dreams," I say rationalizing the way Elara just calls me out of being some lost princess.
"It is just a guess, and I am sorry if my attitude or my friend's attitude towards you has made you upset," he says.
I never thought he could apologize. I stare at him. It is the last minute of the class.
"If you want to run away, you are free to do so for now. I do not know if you are the person we are looking for, but I pray you please give me some time, and let me know you," he says to me. For some reason, he knows what I am thinking.
"Okay," I say in reply.
"Can we be friends?" He asks.
"I think if you want to know me, you have to be friends with me. So, I agree," I say.
The bell rings, and I leave immediately. I do not know what is waiting for me this school year.
