Chapter 36:Trial of King Kai

The swirling mists of the Other World coiled around Rayuga as he stepped through the dimensional portal.

Ahead stood the towering palace of King Yemma, its colossal gates and red-glowing walls exuding authority and ancient power.

Two ogre guards stiffened at his approach, sensing the immense pressure around him. But the pressure wasn't oppressive—it was calm, contained, and precise.

Rayuga's long black coat fluttered in the wind as he moved toward the massive desk inside the palace where the gatekeeper of souls sat, busily stamping paperwork the size of buildings.

As soon as Rayuga stepped inside, a ding echoed within his mind.

Rayuga gave a slight bow, his voice calm. "I came to request directions to King Kai's world. I plan to bring someone there for training."

"Huh…" Yemma leaned forward, intrigued. "You've got good energy. Strong, but not evil. Kind of rare these days."

Rayuga didn't respond to the compliment. "I came with a purpose."

Yemma chuckled, flipping through a large scroll. "Fair enough. I'll help. Take Snake Way, follow the path to the end, and you'll find King Kai's planet. Be careful not to fall off—it's a long way back."

Rayuga nodded respectfully. "Thank you."

As he turned to leave, Yemma watched him with a thoughtful look. "That one's powerful… polite, too. A dangerous combination, but in the best way," he muttered with a grin.

Moments later, Rayuga soared through the clouds, his aura like a silent comet gliding along the massive Snake Way.

Time passed differently here, and it wasn't long before he reached the end of the path, descending gracefully onto the tiny green world of King Kai.

Inside the small house, King Kai nearly dropped his bowl of noodles.

"Wha—what is that energy?! It's enormous!"

He hurried outside, antenna twitching. The moment he laid eyes on Rayuga, the tension eased.

"Oh. He's strong, but… it's good energy," King Kai said, relieved. "Still, what a monster…"

Rayuga bowed slightly. "I'm Rayuga. I'd like to speak with you about training… and preparing for what's coming."

King Kai adjusted his sunglasses. "Hoo boy… I've got a feeling things are about to get very interesting."

The monkey and cricket flew at Rayuga with all their might, zigzagging with uncanny speed. But in an instant, Rayuga disappeared—and reappeared moments later, Bubbles calmly perched on his shoulder, Gregory sitting in his palm, completely dizzy.

King Kai blinked twice. "…Well damn."

"I wasn't even using 1%," Rayuga replied calmly.

"Okay… forget what I said," King Kai grinned. "Let's skip to something real. You're familiar with Kaioken, right?"

Rayuga stepped back slightly, clenching his fist. A fiery crimson aura exploded around him with perfect control—no strain, no instability. Just pure, burning energy in balance.

"I've already mastered the technique," he said. "No side effects. I just came to familiarize myself with it under different conditions."

King Kai's mouth hung open for a second. "You… mastered it already?"

Rayuga closed his fist, letting the aura fade. "I used a different method… one I can't talk about. But the technique is mine now."

King Kai chuckled. "Well, no complaints here! Let me show you how to refine it further. You've got talent, but there's always room to sharpen the blade."

For the next few hours, Rayuga trained in different variations of Kaioken, adjusting its speed, efficiency, and how it could be layered with movement.

Though he experienced no pain, he wanted it to be second nature in every environment.

When the session ended, King Kai handed him a bowl of noodles. "Here—my treat for not blowing up my planet."

Rayuga gave a small smirk.

"Now," King Kai continued, more serious, "How about learning the Spirit Bomb next? It's a tricky one. Needs a pure heart and incredible focus."

Rayuga listened intently as King Kai explained the mechanics—gathering energy from nature, lifeforms, and even the stars. It was a power that didn't belong to the user, but was lent by the universe itself.

He didn't attempt it yet. But he understood it. Deeply.

Then Rayuga looked toward the horizon. "King Kai… there's someone I want you to train. Son Goku."

King Kai blinked. "Goku? I've heard of him. That cheerful Earth kid with untapped potential?"

"He'll be here soon," Rayuga said firmly. "Train him. He'll be needed."

King Kai stared for a moment… then nodded. "Alright. If you say he's worth it, I'll take him in. But no promises he won't eat me out of house and home."

Rayuga turned to the sky, a quiet smirk on his face.

The next step of fate was approaching—and Rayuga would make sure Earth was ready.
