Chapter 66: The Truth of the World

[Chapter 66: The Truth of the World]

By the Porsche, Ian slowly turned around.

Standing in front of him were two young white men wearing black jackets, their expressions clearly showing some nervousness.

The one with blond hair pointed a gun at Ian, while the other with black hair patted him down.

Ian raised an eyebrow, "I thought only black people did this."

He immediately regretted it; he needed to keep his mouth shut.

Sure, black people could say this, but he shouldn't say it.

The Los Angeles Herald was focused on the middle and lower-class markets. Though some black people struggled financially, 20% of customers were still customers, and he couldn't afford to offend anyone!

The black-haired young man chuckled, "This isn't the exclusive domain of anyone."

As he spoke, he pulled a Beretta from Ian's waistband, saying, "You're still packing? No wonder you're so confident!"

Ian shrugged, "I think my confidence just took a hit."

The blond man sneered, "I dislike your attitude; you should be begging for mercy on your knees."

He clearly preferred to see someone kneel and plead rather than just robbing him.

Ian's attitude frustrated him. He aimed the gun at Ian's forehead, "Kneel. Maybe I should tell you that I've killed before! I won't hold back."

Ian only laughed harder, "I like this response. Can you tell me who you killed?"

"Who knows? Some idiot didn't cooperate and tried to fight back, so I just took him out," the blond guy laughed, seemingly not noticing the camera had started recording. Even if he did, he wouldn't care.

He had no intention of letting a fearless journalist live.

The black-haired companion continued searching and found nothing else of value.

The black-haired man said, "That's it. Let's get out of here."

The blond shouted, "He hasn't even knelt yet!"

He yelled at Ian, "Get down! Otherwise, I'll shoot!"

Ian smirked, "If that's what you want to do, then go ahead and pull the trigger."

Huh?

Both young men froze simultaneously.

The blond man glared fiercely at Ian, "What did you say?"

Unseen threads had already disengaged the safety on the blond guy's gun, but he was completely unaware.

Ian finally discovered the use of those threads!

With this newfound power, he no longer worried about someone pointing a gun at him.

At that moment, he looked at his opponent and chuckled softly, "I said to pull the trigger, you dare?"

"Fuck! You're asking for it!" The blond aimed at Ian's forehead but was shocked to find he couldn't pull the trigger.

He checked the gun in disbelief as Ian swiftly snatched the gun from the black-haired man, moving so fast that the others didn't even register what happened.

Ian fired a shot, hitting the black-haired man in the forehead; he fell without a sound.

The blond dude was clueless and realized the safety was still on. He tried to shoot again, but fear got the best of him, and he turned to run.

Ian raised his hand and fired again, hitting the blond in the back, who fell to the ground howling in pain.

Ian strolled over at a leisurely pace, gun in hand.

He stood beside the blond man, saying quietly, "Under normal circumstances, my first shot should have been for you and the second for your buddy since you had a gun... Do you know why I didn't prioritize you?"

"Save me!" The blond man clutched his back, screaming.

He shouted frantically, "Mom... Mom..."

Ian aimed at the blond and replied coldly, "Because if there's no controversy, there's no good news."

He squeezed the trigger, unleashing the remaining bullets into the man.

After putting away his gun, he turned and walked back to his car.

...

After driving away, Ian arrived at Kate's apartment.

They had made plans to stay at her place tonight.

When he arrived, Ian saw Kate just stepping out of the shower.

Wrapping a towel around her damp hair, she asked, "Why are you so late? You didn't respond to my texts."

"Got caught up in something on the way," Ian said as he stepped inside and pulled Kate in for a greedy kiss.

She wore nothing but a bathrobe, and Ian's advances quickly broke down her defenses.

She closed her eyes, breathing heavily, feeling his touch as she mumbled, "What happened?"

"News," Ian replied, bending slightly as he answered.

Kate cursed under her breath, "Fuck!"

She somewhat guessed what had happened. Ian had a solemn aura about him, and it was definitely not a sex scandal!

"Don't rush me, babe," Ian smiled. "We've got to build up the tension first."

He effortlessly picked Kate up and carried her toward the bedroom.

Kate sighed, "I'm not urging you to fuck me! I mean, in your eyes, news always seems more important than me."

He laid her down on the bed and continued to smile at her.

Under the light, Kate's perfect figure was enchanting.

Scarlett was petite and cute, while Kate was truly a tall beauty with elegant poise.

Ian stroked her lovely body, stating, "Being jealous over a man's career is one of the dumbest things you can do."

Kate wrapped her arms around his neck, asking, "What about Scarlett?"

Ian thought for a moment and said with a grin, "I hope you two can be good friends."

Frustrated, Kate playfully bit Ian's shoulder.

Ian chuckled and enjoyed every moment; he held Kate tight, relishing her beauty...

...

After their passion fizzled, Ian promptly got up and began working.

He first edited the video and then started making phone calls to line up his work.

Sitting on the bed, watching the footage of the bodies on screen, Kate felt a sense of void.

Those were two young lives.

They were dead!

Just like that, they had been killed.

On his way to her, he took two lives and then proceeded to make news...

Everything seemed so natural.

"What kind of devil are you, Ian!" Kate murmured softly.

Yet this devil drew her in, like a drug that made her addicted.

Ian turned and smiled, "I recently realized something; I'm not the devil. I'm God!"

"What did you just say?" Kate asked, utterly confused.

Ian smiled, "Read the Bible properly, and you'll see that God has killed far more people than Satan! Just because someone doesn't believe in Him, He unleashes floods to drown the world!"

Kate was momentarily stunned.

Ian nodded gently, "There's an old saying: killing one person makes a murderer, killing thousands makes a king. The Bible teaches that anyone who goes against God shall descend into hell! So this is the truth of the world, even the ultimate truth... the more you kill, the holier you become!"

Kate cried out, "You can't twist it like that! The Bible says we are born with original sin, and only faith in God can liberate us!"

Ian laughed heartily, "Don't be like that, my silly girl. You know that the doctrine of original sin is just a beautified interpretation of the belief that 'those who don't believe in me will all go to hell.' The great Bible embarks on justifying robbery and murder in a holy name, allowing people to kill and plunder without remorse; it perfectly aligns with the nature of media!"

He approached Kate and held her tight, adding, "I don't plan to argue with you on this, babe. If you need to, you can believe I'm the devil. But you need to know that whether I'm God or Satan, this man before you, regardless of how wicked he may be, will never harm you!"

As he said this, he embraced Kate once more, savoring her.

In that dominating, greedy, wild caress, Kate was utterly lost.

Ian was right; it didn't matter what kind of man he was, as long as he treated her well.

She held onto Ian tightly and said, "But you still made me angry, Ian. You need to make it up to me! No matter who you are, you're my slave now..."

She began pushing Ian down.

As she savored his fair skin, Ian eagerly replied, "I'm thrilled to offer you everything, including my entire lineage, my Queen!"
