Chapter 70: Butterfly Becomes Famous

[Chapter 70: Butterfly Becomes Famous]

Ten minutes later, the gang members arrived. Ian didn't show himself but hid in a rundown building nearby. This disorderly street had vacant houses everywhere; if one wasn't afraid of danger, they could stay for free.

Two hours later, Kenwal's crew arrived as well. What they found waiting for them was a ruthless massacre. Under the orders of Crips, the gang executed everyone from Bates Killers gang and disposed of the bodies alongside their own in the outskirts, arranging them neatly, snapping photos before the follow-up cleanup.

Then came the task of burying the bodies. Even they didn't understand why they had to go through all of this.

...

Watching them wrap things up, Ian took everything from Crips' safe and returned home.

Of course, Ian wasn't that stingy. He handed over five kilograms of powder to Crips as part of their deal. When Crips found out the flour was in Ian's possession, his eyes nearly popped out.

So, you killed Koskri and turned it into news?

Wait, why was he even surprised? Just moments ago, he had killed a bunch of my men, then... darn it!

He was trying to make headlines! Crips felt dazed.

Ian noticed the expression on his face and smiled, "Don't worry, just find a few scapegoats to take the fall. I'll help you downsize the story."

"But this is going to be huge news!" Crips exclaimed, stunned.

Ian shook his head lightly, "The news can be big, but the case can remain small... as long as you can keep the Chief of Police and the Mayor in line, there won't be any problems!"

...

The next day, the Crips Gang's involvement in the massacre of Bates Killers became front-page news. Through Ian's maneuvering, the incident was classified as a gang shootout, personally led by Chief Beaton from the Los Angeles Police Department to calm the chaos.

The Los Angeles Herald published a special feature, proclaiming that it was thanks to Chief Beaton's wise command that the damage from this heinous incident was minimized.

Beaton's reputation, which had suffered due to the suicide incident of a teenager, was finally rehabilitated, and Mayor Kuch rightfully stated that he believed in Beaton's capability to maintain peace and protect the city's residents.

In gratitude, the reporters for the Los Angeles Herald were supported extensive support. Wherever they went, even if the police didn't escort them, they at least turned a blind eye. The only pity was that this news hadn't gone viral due to lack of of captivating videos; since this involved the Crips Gang, it was inappropriate to leave behind too much evidence.

Despite this, numerous photos from the gang shootout still sent shockwaves across America. From start of 2001 up to now, although Ian hadn't produced any heavyweight news like the Burning Torch incident, his output of quality stories had skyrocketed!

Unlike before, this gang shootout's reporter was no longer Ian Carr but Butterfly's exclusive coverage.

Though Ian had used Butterfly's name on some relatively ordinary pieces before, this news definitely put Butterfly on the map.

...

Comments flooded in:

"Who's Butterfly?"

"Another great reporter from the Los Angeles Herald!"

"Too bad it's not as good as Ian Carr's stuff; it's all pictures without any video."

"You could see gunfights in movies."

"Geez! That's not the same, you idiot!"

"An excellent company cannot rely solely on its owner to obtain high-quality content. Ian Carr is transforming from an excellent journalist to an excellent boss, and is beginning to cultivate outstanding talents like Butterfly. This is what a qualified business owner should do."

Because of the lack of videos, Butterfly couldn't compare to Ian yet, but at least he had made a name for himself.

With Ian support, Butterfly's name would surely become famous throughout the United States.

...

In the afternoon, Ian arrived at Gaskill's house.

He knocked on the door, and Lena stood there in sexy sleepwear.

She looked at Ian with excitement gleaming in her eyes, threw herself at him, and delivered the sweetest kiss.

From her passionate greeting, Ian started to wonder if she truly felt that "Gaskill was the one."

But people needed their self-deceptions; he let her maintain that feeling. Having captured her heart, he didn't want her to lose her affections for Gaskill.

He lifted Lena into the house, and as they walked, they undressed each other. Once they hit the bed, they were fully honest with each other.

They tumbled happily on that soft, luxurious bed until their passion came to a close.

...

Lena held Ian, wanting to talk, but found he had already drifted to sleep.

This made her a bit unhappy as she gently shook him, "Ian, you know falling asleep right after is supposed to be bad luck?"

"Sorry, babe. I was really tired last night, didn't sleep well," Ian replied helplessly.

"Did you go find another woman?"

"No, just had some other business."

"Tell me about it?" Lena asked softly.

After thinking for a moment, Ian briefly explained what had happened the previous night.

Lena had already seen the news, but she was shocked to find that Ian was behind the killing of Bates Killers Gang. "Oh my God, how did you survive?"

"Simple, just killed them all." Ian smiled.

Lena's mouth fell open in surprise, making her even more alluring.

Ian couldn't help but caress her gently, kissing her and feeling the softness and tenderness of her fair skin.

Lena, enduring Ian's advances, breathed heavily, "Should we tell Gaskill?"

"Of course. You both are the only people I trust right now, and I can only share this with you. I need someone to help me think."

"Then I'll call right now."

"No!" Ian pressed down on her, smiling, "I can do it again soon, let's enjoy it first."

Lena gazed longingly at Ian.

This young man appeared like a devil, taking down an evil gang by himself, yet to her, he seemed so gentle and considerate.

She softly said, "You're tired, Ian. You need to rest well; let me take care of you."

As she said this, she slowly got on top.
