Chapter 109: Halle Berry (Part 1)

[Chapter 109: Halle Berry (Part 1)]

In the early morning, Ian woke up surrounded by a couple of lovely arms. He opened his eyes and saw Helen playfully poking his face with a cat toy.

Ian smiled and pulled Helen Berry into a hug, burying his face in her ample curves.

"No, Ian, you have to get up! And you all too, hurry up!" Helen insisted.

Barbara opened her sleepy eyes, her round face lit up with a cute expression, "But I didn't get enough sleep, I was the last one to sleep last night!" Although Barbara was older than Amanda, she had an even more innocent and simplistic personality. Ian found it charming.

"Then you can get dressed and go back to sleep afterward; we have guests coming over soon," Helen replied.

Hearing this, the girls woke up at once.

"Who?" Little freckled Kelsey asked.

"My aunt," Helen said.

"Halle Berry?" The girls exclaimed in unison.

Helen nodded confidently, a hint of pride in her eyes, "She's here to thank Ian for saving us."

"What are we waiting for, girls? Get up!" Jessica Alba exclaimed as she jumped up, her beautiful figure reflecting an enticing glow in the sunlight.

...

Twenty minutes later, in their hotel room, Halle Berry stood before Ian and others. At 36 years old, this stunning African American woman still radiated elegance and confidence.

She wore a simple black low-cut top with a black diamond pendant hanging above her chest, paired with a lightweight white sash around her waist adorned with little sequins. Her long black wavy hair cascaded naturally over her shoulders, showcasing her beauty.

Seated comfortably on the hotel sofa, she crossed her long legs in front of Ian and smiled, "I'm really grateful, Mr. Carr. Helen has told me everything that happened. It was you who saved them and then gave the credit to that police officer. I'm curious about how you managed to do that... they didn't tell me."

The girls chimed in, "It's not that we didn't tell her, we just didn't know! The lights went out!"

Ian poured Halle a glass of red wine, saying, "Asking questions is what the media excels at; it's people like you who answer them."

Halle laughed softly behind her hand, "Are you rejecting me?"

Ian thought for a moment and then responded, "Yes, I'm afraid I must refuse."

"Why?" Halle gazed at Ian with intrigue.

After all, a young boss saving a group of innocent girls from a gang was noteworthy, especially since Ian was someone who loved a good interview. Yet this time, he gave the honor to someone else.

Ian replied, "Because that's not what a businessman does. Say, a businessman fights on the battlefield and risks his life, and even if he is a superman, he will not be popular... Everyone has their place, and when we are in our place, we must do our job well. Businessmen don't need to take police work away from the officers."

Halle tilted her head slightly, "Perfect answer. But it's different for actors. If an actor single-handedly does something like this, it would be very well received. You know Harrison Ford, right?"

"Of course. He saved an injured person during a hiking trip and became a hero."

As he spoke, Ian laughed, "If there's a chance next time, I might consider asking you to play that hero."

Halle burst out laughing, "You're an interesting guy, but I wouldn't have the guts for that. Uh..." She paused, pulling out a Chanel bag and taking out a check. "I don't want you to misunderstand, Mr. Carr, but this might be the only way for me to express my gratitude. If something happened to Helen, I wouldn't know how to face my brother."

Helen exclaimed, "Aunt, you can't do that!"

Ian placed a hand on Helen's arm, signaling her to calm down.

Even though Ian was wealthy, he still likes money. Of course, that didn't mean he was going to accept Halle's money.

He looked at Halle earnestly, "I think you might have misunderstood, Mrs. Benet."

Halle Berry's second husband was singer Eric Benet, so Ian politely referred to her as Mrs. Benet.

At that moment, Ian said seriously, "I saved them out of basic human morals, not for any other reason. I don't need to make money through this."

"Is that so?" Halle sighed softly.

She put the check back in her bag and said, "Then what if I told you I wanted to take Helen away?"

Helen gasped, "No, Aunt!"

Halle glanced at Helen and finally said, "Mr. Carr, I'd like to speak with Helen alone for a moment."

Ian nodded gently, "No problem."

He led the other girls out of the room and they settled down in the lounge just outside.

Jessica Alba remarked, "Ian, I feel like Mrs. Benet doesn't really like you?"

Amanda nodded in agreement, "I sense her eyes are full of suspicion."

Ian smiled, "It's alright."

...

Inside the room, Helen stared angrily at Halle, "I don't understand, Aunt. Why would you do this? I thought you came to thank Ian."

Halle shook her head repeatedly, "You don't understand; I'm doing this for your own good. You should stay away from this guy. He's not what you think he is."

Helen shouted, "I know. I know he has ties to gangs. So what? He treats me well!"

Halle was astonished, "What are you talking about? He has connections to gangs? Oh my God, you absolutely cannot associate with him!"

Helen responded confused, "You didn't know? Then why are you trying to stop us?"

Halle snapped, "Do you think I'm blind? Can't I see you living with him and those other girls? What could five girls with him possibly do? I can't accept that!"

Helen retorted, "I'm an adult! I can make my own decisions. Besides, isn't that how the industry works?"

Halle rubbed her forehead, feeling helpless.

It was as if they had learned all the bad habits before mastering anything decent.

Halle said helplessly, "I can't dictate your life, but at least you need to know how to choose. You can't choose him; he would ruin you."

Helen scoffed, "So, I should choose the people you introduce me to? How about that producer?"

Halle sighed, "Burroughs didn't betray you; it's just because of him that Bloods people saw you. That was my fault, I didn't know he had connections with those guys. But you really can't be with Ian Carr."

"Why?"

"Because he'll expose everyone's secrets!" Halle shouted. "Do you really know him? All the dirt on Lili Marlene came from him, and he ruined her marriage. Lili cried to me about it, saying she was on the verge of depression! And Cressida Tillman, that bastard extorted five hundred thousand dollars from her using her photos. He's a bastard! I could give him money, but I can't let you be with him! He'll use you to find dirt on countless people!"

Helen laughed, "I know all that; so what?"

She looked at her aunt, pondering, "You're scared of him, aren't you? You all are scared of him? Because he can always find out others' secrets."

Halle turned her face away.

Being a celebrity, who didn't have a few skeletons in their closet?

But Helen's eyes sparkled with excitement.

Suddenly, she burst out laughing, "Sorry, Aunt. Your argument only makes me love him more!"

She acted like a mad girl, shouting and jumping around, her ponytail flying in the air.

Then she threw her arms around Halle, "But don't worry. With me around, he'll never hurt you!"
