[Chapter 111: Achievements of the Girls]
Dusk had fallen.
Outside Los Angeles,
Alex Calder sat in his house, staring dreamily at the beautiful severed head in front of him.
He caressed the face that had not yet begun to decay, his eyes filled with affection. "Now you won't leave me, baby."
"I think a better option would be to cut off your own head and bury it with hers," a calm voice came from behind him.
Alex spun around in shock to see Ian standing right behind him, smiling cheerfully.
"Ian Carr?" Alex exclaimed, "How did you get in here?"
He felt as if he were in a horror movie, startled by Ian's sudden appearance.
"I picked the lock; it wasn't hard," Ian shrugged with a smile.
He glanced at the severed head and continued, "So this is a crime of passion? The story isn't great, but the imagery of a head left behind is pretty striking. I like that part."
He pointed to the camera he held. "You can't have a good story without some creepy elements."
"Die!" Alex shouted as he lunged at Ian with a knife.
Ian smirked and casually punched forward.
In his hand was a hammer, hidden from view, but as he swung it through the air, it connected forcefully with Alex's wrist. The blow shattered Alex's arm, and he cried out in pain.
In the next moment, Ian kicked Alex. Alex smashed through the door and flew outside, a thin wire yanking the invisible hammer back, slamming into his chest and breaking two of his ribs.
Looking up, Alex saw a pair of long, beautiful legs.
As he looked higher, he spotted five stunning girls, each holding a metal rod, with Halle Berry not far behind, nervously brandishing a small handgun while watching the scene unfold.
Helen exclaimed excitedly, "You bastard!"
With that, she raised her metal rod and swung it downward towards him.
Alex tried to fight back, but the broken ribs rendered him powerless. The rods fell like rain, and Alex cried out, "No! No! Ian Carr, what have you done to me?"
"Don't say my name, buddy. I'm just a witness here," Ian said, busily recording with his camera. "Give him a good lesson, girls; don't worry about that guy's retaliation. This is destined to be your breakout moment."
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Wild blows rained down on him.
Although the girls were not particularly strong, the addition of the metal rods gave them significant impact, and they soon left the murderer bloodied and on the brink of collapse.
...
At that moment, Ian finally spoke up. "Alright, girls, if you keep going, he'll actually die. We need him alive! You have to be heroines, not murderers!"
Helen Berry dropped her rod, excitedly looking at Ian. "We've caught a villain. We're about to be heroes, right, Ian?"
Ian smiled, "Yes, you're about to become famous."
He looked over at Halle Berry, who silently put away her handgun into her bag.
She smiled. "I'm starting to understand why you've become the best reporter in America; you excel at creating news stories."
"Just an appetizer," Ian replied.
He waved. "Come on, girls, it's time for pictures. Do you want to join, Mrs. Benet? I promise to make you all look beautiful... in a brutally stunning way!"
Halle Berry raised her eyebrows. She wanted to refuse, but she could not resist the allure of becoming a heroine; it also brought her significant benefits.

"Murderer at the Sandy Building Captured; Surprise Arrest Made by Five Young Girls and Halle Berry."
"The killer brushed past the police, disdainfully glancing back as he left."
"L.A.'s rising star missed the opportunity to apprehend a killer!"
"Case suspected to be a crime of passion."
At home,
Ian sipped his morning coffee, delighting in the contents of the day's leading newspaper.
His eyes stopped on a large photo of the five girls alongside Halle Berry, with their feet resting on the beaten face of the murderer.
A satisfied smirk crossed Ian's lips.
The events had transpired the day prior, with the arrest occurring that night; the newspaper headlines had arrived that morning, and WND had also begun streaming the killer's beheading video.
This story lacked much excitement until it involved celebrities, making it different and packed with special elements.
First was the beheading video of the criminal, which unfortunately needed to be blurred.
Then there was the footage showing the police nearly passing by the killer.
Finally, there was the incredible detail of five girls, who had almost been abducted, capturing the criminal alongside a big star.
The combination of these factors made the story highly valuable.
With the backing of WND, this case quickly became the hot headline of the day, causing even the Los Angeles Herald and Times to surge in sales.
Especially the footage of the beheading sparked serious chills amongst viewers, and many privately requested an unedited version despite the censorship.
WND's comment section was in an uproar.
...
"It's Butterfly again! He always manages to scoop the big stories, even showing up at the scene."
"Idiot, the filming was done from the building across the street; that doesn't count as being there."
"But it's so coincidental that the guy even killed without pulling the curtains!"
"Why were those girls the ones to catch him?"
"Because they were likely staying at the hotel too."
"Oh wow, are you saying Butterfly and those girls shared a room?"
"It's very possible; after all, they were saved when Butterfly reported the incident."
"Damn, that guy has AIDS!"
"No, he can't touch Jessica; she's mine!"
"I like Kelsey, especially her long legs and cute freckles, she's adorable!"
"I like Helen; her skin looks beautiful."
"I like Barbara for her face; it's as red as a ripe apple."
"Isn't anyone fond of Amanda? She's so cute!"
"Damn! She's still a child!!!"
"And Halle Berry? Why aren't you mentioning her?"
"Because she's older; these girls are younger."
"But she's still beautiful; I don't mind her age."
"She won't care if you don't mind, haha!"
The tide of comments turned sharply: "Damn Butterfly!"
Ian chuckled. "Sorry for the trouble, Philip, but this helps clear the relationship."
No one believed Jessica would get involved with Leyso; in that way, Leyso would take all the heat.
Someone's got to carry the burden.
...
Kate and Scarlett called in next.
Kate said, "You truly know how to create heroines."
Scarlett added, "You slept with them, didn't you? Ian, I'm feeling jealous."
Ian patiently reassured both of them until Lena's call came in.
She shouted from the other end, "Remember that I am your favorite, Ian!"
Oh no!
Jealous women were really terrifying. Gaskill, you need to talk to your wife.
---
The girls had stepped out temporarily to connect with their families.
Kate and Scarlett were both busy, and with some rare free time, Ian returned to Elk Street to spend time with his mom.
In the morning, Mrs. Carr called from downstairs. "Ian, come down for breakfast!"
"Got it, Mom." Ian replied, shutting off his computer and folding the newspaper.
When he reached the living room, Mrs. Carr had prepared a heavy breakfast.
"Thanks, Mom," Ian said, happily started eating.
Mrs. Carr sat across from Ian, her eyes full of admiration. She gazed at him warmly. "You did an excellent job, Ian, even better than your father. If he knew how well you handled the Herald after he left us, he would be very proud."
Ian smiled, "Don't say that, Mom. I'll be too proud."
Mrs. Carr joyfully stroked her son's cheek.
Just then, the phone rang; Ian glanced to see it was Katherine calling.
He answered with a smile, "This is Ian Carr speaking; Officer Brown, how can I help you?"
