Chapter 138: Our Heroes

[Chapter 138: Our Heroes]

CBS Studio.

Today's Interview segment.

A blonde beauty sat behind a purple long table, next to a red sofa.

On the sofa sat three figures: Ian Carr, Shawna, and Daniel Tegg.

These three personalities, who made headlines due to the 9/17 incident, were currently being interviewed by CBS.

The beautiful host said, "Hello everyone, I'm Bernice Clout. Welcome to Today's Interview. Today we have the famous journalist and owner of Carr Media Group, Mr. Ian Carr; our lovely hero pilot, former flight attendant Ms. Shawna; and our photographer Mr. Daniel Tegg."

The camera shifted to focus on the trio as they waved and smiled at the lens, while the audience erupted into thunderous applause.

Bernice Clout then asked, "Alright, let's start with Mr. Carr. My first question is, after getting off the plane, did you have sex with Ms. Shawna?"

The audience immediately whistled and laughed.

Ian glanced at Shawna, who proudly raised her radiant face, confidence sparkling in her eyes.

He replied with a chuckle, "Yes, we did, on the hospital bed. We maintained good communication, and we still do."

Bernice turned to Shawna, asking, "What was his performance like?"

Shawna appeared a bit shy, "Do I really have to answer this question?"

Bernice responded, "Many people are curious about it."

Shawna quickly said, "Then I should say it was poor, so no one will compete with me for my man..."

She raised her hand, adding, "Okay, okay, I can't be dishonest. I can only say he has solid assets; being his girlfriend must be quite blissful."

The audience erupted into cheers.

Nearby, photographer Daniel remarked, "My assets are pretty good too."

"Oh yeah!" the crowd cheered loudly.

Just a week had passed since 9/17, and they were already this way?

It seemed humanity's memory was shorter than a goldfish's.

Bernice Clout clarified, "So, Mr. Carr, what made you make that choice on the plane?"

Ian answered, "My belief! My duty! We all have our responsibilities. To me, this was nothing; I just did what I had to do."

Shawna added, "It was Ian who inspired me. I've said it before; without him, I wouldn't have had that kind of courage."

Bernice initially asked a few questions about their feelings at the time and then asked, "What do you plan to do next?"

Shawna opened her mouth to speak, but Ian answered for her, "This incident had a great impact on all of us involved. Shawna, considering this event, will devote herself to the cause of world peace and work toward preventing war for humanity."

Shawna glanced at him but said nothing.

Bernice immediately questioned, "Devoting yourself to world peace? How do you plan to do that?"

Ian replied, "I'm in contact with the Red Cross; Shawna will be joining. It's a global humanitarian organization dedicated to reducing conflict and armed violence's impact and providing humanitarian assistance worldwide. Besides that, we're considering making an anti-terrorism film, and I'm thinking of casting Shawna as the lead."

"Yes! Great!" everyone shouted.

Shawna finally understood why Ian had mentioned her celebrity status could help in acting and now connected it to his anti-war commitment; it all made sense, after all.

But she had to admit that Ian's thinking was indeed sound.

Leveraging their newfound fame was the best way to turn it into something lasting, and not only that, Ian had also signed Daniel as one of the leads for the film. An anti-terrorism movie combined with their popularity was certainly a recipe for success.

After all, Ian had several movie ideas related to this theme and just needed to find partners to bring his team into the mix.

This was true fame and fortune combined.

Shawna's joining the Red Cross was part of the plan as that also contributed to influence.

Ian's proposal was well-received by the public. Bernice then asked, "And what about you, Mr. Carr? Will you be involved?"

Ian chuckled, "No, I have too much to do. I won't act in movies, but I might share some opinions on certain matters since I'm an eyewitness."

Bernice remarked, "Using your story as inspiration could work well."

Hmm?

Ian was taken aback.

Can it really be done?

This idea didn't exist in the original timeline.

But why not?

It wasn't necessary to be a copycat to succeed; blockbuster films had never relied on plagiarism. They had professional systems...

Thinking this through, Ian smiled and said, "That's a good idea; I will consider it. Maybe I'll license it or have my company produce it."

Bernice quickly responded, "I wouldn't advise your company to take on this project; it needs a more objective party."

"You have a point; perhaps it would be more of a joint venture," Ian conceded.

As they chatted casually, Ian's humor quickly garnered him many fans.

...

After a little while, Bernice noted, "By the way, Mr. Carr, we have a special guest today, and you might want to meet him."

Ian paused, confused.

Then a bald white man swaggered in, strong and confident in a black suit and a blue-and-white striped tie.

His appearance elicited cheers from the audience.

Even Ian couldn't help but stand up: "Mayor Giuliani?"

It was indeed Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York City!

He had served as Mayor for 8 years, primarily known for reducing crime rates and transforming New York's image from "ungovernable" to a city with an improved quality of life for its residents.

In the original timeline, Giuliani had gained widespread praise for his leadership during the September incident and was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 2001. However, he later faced scandals and went bankrupt - a stark contrast to the narrative that praised Giuliani's integrity, overshadowing the massive wealth he accrued during his years in office!

But this time, things were different.

An airplane was saved by Ian and Shawna's teamwork; thus, Giuliani would not be the hero paraded before the public but rather Ian and Shawna.

Yes, he, Shawna, and Daniel had already made it onto the shortlist for Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2001-2002, and it would likely remain unchanged.

...

At that moment, Giuliani walked into the studio, laughing and waving to the crowd.

He turned to Ian, saying, "You're a hero, Ian! You saved 273 people, and you are the pride of this era! For this, I represent New York City and declare you an Honorary Citizen of New York!"

He then turned to the camera and passionately spoke.

Every American politician was a master of speech, and Giuliani spoke eloquently, easily winning the crowd's favor.

Even Ian had to admit: he had stolen his spotlight; if one ignored his inner self, he seemed like a genuinely good person.

Inner self?

That was something you couldn't inspect; no one could withstand scrutiny... no one!

After his speech, Giuliani produced medals to present to Ian, Shawna, and Daniel, stating, "This is what you all deserve."

"Thank you," Ian had not anticipated that this interview would turn into an award ceremony, smiling as he embraced Giuliani.

During the hug, Giuliani whispered, "Are you free tomorrow night?"

Ian hesitated, then quietly replied, "If it's your invitation, I certainly must be."

Although Giuliani later faced bankruptcy, it didn't hinder Ian from leveraging their connection. The only concern was that he was a Republican, which could complicate things.

Giuliani laughed boisterously as he released him and then settled down for the interview.

An hour later, the interview concluded.

...

As Ian exited the studio and was in his private dressing room removing his makeup, he noticed that the blonde beauty host had approached him.

She smiled, closed the door behind her, and stepped closer to Ian.

Looking at this American hero in the eyes of the public, who was also a major stakeholder in CBS, her boss, she leaned in, presenting her considerable assets before him.

Though she said nothing, Ian understood.

He replied, "I'm not in charge of CBS."

Bernice shook her head gently, "There are no conditions, only desires. After all, it's my honor to be with someone like you."

Not every woman who slept with Ian had conditions.

The same had been true for Clara Stone when he bought his house, and it applied to Bernice Clout now.

They simply had eyes for Ian and wished to have him.

Ian glanced at the door where Shawna was still waiting outside.

Bernice smiled, "I had someone take her for another interview; we have twenty minutes."

Saying this, she naturally unzipped her front, revealing her generous assets, a surge of desire poured forth...

Ian gently caressed her beautiful face, "That might not be enough."

Bernice's eyes flickered with excitement, "You decide everything; we can take as long as you want."

With that, she slowly knelt down.
