[Chapter 174: Never Forget Where You Came From]
"Extra! Extra!"
"Ian Carr Elevator Incident!"
"Ivanka Trump Saves Hero!"
"Ian Carr and Ivanka Trump Exit the Hotel Together, Clearly Ian Has a New Flame!"
News reports inundated the headlines. Ian's romantic entanglements were making waves yet again, particularly his and Ivanka's heroic act of taking down the attackers.
Yes, a heroic act!
These three assailants intended to rob the hotel... That was Ian's explanation. He couldn't state they were out to harm him personally; otherwise, their actions wouldn't hold the same heroic weight. Whether the three aimed to kidnap him or assassinate him would depend on Katherine's forthcoming investigation.
The reason Ian credited all the glory to Ivanka was not just to spice up the news. He had another motive: he didn't want to appear too capable. After all, if he demonstrated his strength too openly, nobody would dare bother him.
...
Trump Tower.
In his office, Donald Trump excitedly grasped Ian's hand, saying, "Thank you so much for saving my daughter and granting her such honor."
While Ivanka couldn't possibly tell her father that it was her own skills that saved the day, she also didn't explain to him that the attackers might have been targeting Ian.
If previously Ivanka was somewhat trained in emotion by Ian through their intimate moments, this encounter made her completely idolize Ian Carr.
It was normal for a powerful soldier to take down three assailants in an elevator. But to give credit for two of those victories to a woman? That feat was something even Rambo might not have managed. Ian Carr -- his abilities were exceptional, coupled with sharp insight, notable intelligence, and immense wealth and assets.
It made sense for women to be fascinated by such a man; not being enchanted by him would be strange indeed. Adding to Ian's allure was his ability to hypnotize, leading Ivanka to quickly submit to him.
Despite Trump's arrogance, bluster, and penchant for speaking his mind, he was still a man who couldn't ignore the gratitude he owed to the one who saved his daughter. Because of that, he couldn't impose further demands on Ian, instead handing all advertising contracts to Carr Media Group and even granting a three-year break on rent.
"Three years free rent? How generous of you!" Ian chuckled, embracing Trump. "No need to mention it, Mr. Trump. I like Ivanka, and I'm happy to do all this for her."
"Ah, I love how you love her!" Trump laughed, his eyes squinting with joy.
So, the two of them enjoyed a pleasant exchange until Trump's secretary reminded him of a meeting. Reluctantly, he left while Ivanka stayed behind.
...
Watching her father exit, Ivanka chuckled, "Don't mind my dad, Ian. He can be quite unrefined."
Sometimes, Ivanka genuinely felt her father lacked finesse. If someone else had said something similar about her relationship, she might have defended herself vehemently. But with Ian, she didn't have to say a word; her feelings only grew more intense.
She didn't want her father to negatively affect how Ian perceived her. Ian wrapped his arms around Ivanka, pulling her onto his lap. He gently caressed her, kissing her cheek, "Don't worry, darling. I care more about your feelings. As long as you don't blame me for dragging you into that dangerous situation, I'm perfectly happy."
Ivanka gazed at Ian with adoration. In the heat of the moment, one could become excited, but afterwards, fear often crept in. The perfect example was Trump. In his original timeline, when he was shot at, his immediate reaction was to clench his fists and shout for battle, winning over countless onlookers. However, it later surfaced that Trump had experienced a tough emotional toll afterward.
This after-the-fact fear could take time to heal. Fortunately for Ivanka, she had Ian, who could help her gradually forget all about it through hypnosis, shielding her from emotional fallout. In a way, hypnosis could assist in treating post-traumatic stress.
Such trauma treatment could further enhance Ivanka's affection towards Ian, after all, he had become her pillar of courage.
A man who could provide infinite courage, one who wouldn't fear the past, who could offer a blissful love life, thrilling adventures, and possess such strength in all respects -- how could she not be utterly captivated?
So, Ivanka cradled Ian and earnestly said, "Oh my God, Ian, I can't ever leave you. I'm begging you, never give up on me, okay? I just want to be by your side!"
As she spoke, she embraced Ian and kissed him passionately.
Ian softly asked, "Does that include the potential dangers we might face in the future?"
Ivanka eagerly affirmed, "Yes!"
Perfect. Totally mastered!
---
"We can't deny that Ian Carr has a remarkable quality. He has an uncanny ability to attract danger, even now that he's worth over $2 billion," said a CBS television host, as they discussed the elevator incident.
Without a doubt, this was yet another sensational news story. Ian Carr and Ivanka, one a golden boy, the other a golden girl, were already newsworthy figures, and now they were even more in the spotlight.
Lying on the bed in Godwin Manor, Ian beamed at the TV. Flipping through the newspaper, he read a headline from The New York Times: "Ian Carr Clearly Thrives on Creating Female Heroes and Pushes Them into the Film Industry. However, it's worth noting that most of the news pieces originating from Ian Carr contain notable editing features. Although the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that this editing did not affect the reality of the events, we must still ask why there is editing? What is Ian Carr hiding? Is he fabricating stories for sensational effects?"
Tsk, tsk, tsk!
Indeed, one's enemies often know them best. The New York Times was controlled by Jewish interests, and after Ian took control of the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Herald, his media presence began to pose a direct threat to The New York Times, making it fearsome.
Oh, it's not even in the top three now. The once top three newspapers in America, USA Today, The New York Times, and Los Angeles Times, now comprises the Los Angeles Herald, the Los Angeles Times, and USA Today, with The New York Times slipping to fourth.
No wonder they were feeling sour.
...
Ian shrugged it off, putting the newspaper down and kissing Scarlett and Barbara beside him just as he was about to get out of bed.
Just then, the butler announced, "Miss Katherine is here."
Huh?
Ever since Ian and Katherine had a relationship, she had never visited his home before. This time was the first.
Ian chuckled, "Tell her I'm in the bedroom with Scarlett and Barbara. Ask if she wants to meet me here or in the living room downstairs."
A moment later, the butler replied, "In the living room downstairs."
This meant she wasn't planning to join in on the fun.
Ian muttered, "What a disappointing answer."
He had once thought about using hypnosis to break down her last wall of reticence but decided against it. Some pushback and a challenge made life more interesting, didn't they? There were too many obedient girls; it was refreshing to have a proud one. He wanted to use his charm to conquer her completely!
...
Wrapping himself in a robe, Ian made his way to the staircase.
He spotted Katherine standing stiffly in the living room, donned in her police uniform. She gazed dreamily at the flowers surrounding her, brought by Scarlett, and others, filling the room with a stunning fragrance.
Katherine was lost in thought, seemingly pondering how she was just one of those flowers.
Ian glided down the circular marble staircase. "What a surprise to see you here, but I take it it's for work."
Katherine turned to face Ian, her bright eyes shimmering with veiled desire, yet she ultimately suppressed it.
"The ones who came for you from the Bates Killers Gang."
"Wow," Ian whistled.
The Durham Steel Yard had seen Ian deal with the elite Bates Killers Gang, but the gang had never truly disappeared. Now, it seemed that the widow of the old boss was actively hunting him out of revenge for her husband and brother.
Perfect.
Without enemies, where would the blood and sin lie? And where would the sensational news come from?
Ian slowly stepped down beside Katherine. He grasped her hand, gently ran his fingers across her face, and said, "I like you in a police uniform. Have you heard of the term 'uniform fetish'?"
Katherine bastarded away, glaring at him. "Ian, you can't keep doing this."
Ian then pinned her against the coffee table. The maids began to discreetly retreat.
Ian enveloped Katherine from behind, saying, "Don't worry. I won't handle that wicked woman. Keeping her around means I'll always have fresh material for news. But if she doesn't send anyone to deal with me in a while, then I might consider dealing with her."
Katherine felt dazed by his logic. Was he actually suggesting that he would kill her just because she wasn't sending people to kill him?
Ian had already begun to advance toward Katherine. She struggled, but it seemed she didn't actually want to break free, either.
Bracing herself on the expensive coffee table, she murmured, "You're already a successful businessman, Ian. You shouldn't be indulging in bloodshed anymore!"
Ian suddenly tugged at her police skirt, his hand sliding right in.
He chuckled, "'Businessmen should not immerse themselves in bloodshed,' as you've said. But on the other hand, isn't there an old adage that says one cannot forget their roots? I rose out of bloody news, I thrived on violence, and spicy romantic tales embellished my life, while financial news is my sustenance -- violence and blood are my foundation!
Without bloodshed and violence, not only would the world be dull, but it would also signify Ian Carr's failure. So how could I possibly give that up?"
"Mmm!" Katherine moaned softly, completely lost in Ian's rough embrace.
On the staircase, Scarlett and Barbara exchanged amused glances before silently returning to their room.
