[Chapter 195: Let's Make an MV]
In a nearby sports bar, a group of rowdy guys was drinking and cheering while watching a match.
At that moment, Poland was playing against the United States in an unsurprising match. Poland had won decisively, 3-1, but the American team still managed to advance to the Round of 16.
Most fans couldn't afford to watch every single game, and some, unable to secure a hotel room, had already left for the next match to support their country. So, the bar was filled mostly with fans from Portugal and Germany, as their teams had successfully advanced and were set to play in various locations across South Korea shortly.
At that moment, most fans were fixated on the screen and didn't notice a young woman who walked in.
...
Britney Spears, wearing a hat and mask that obscured most of her face, approached the bar and said, "Give me a beer."
The bartender clearly didn't recognize her and handed her a drink. Britney sat at the bar, letting out a soft sigh.
Following Ian Carr had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, but she was frustrated to realize that she couldn't keep track of him. He had gone to a location, exited his car, entered an alley, and then disappeared. When she saw him again, he was back beside his car. Britney couldn't see what he had done; after several unsuccessful attempts at following him, she gradually lost interest.
After all, she was still young, and her commitment to tasks wasn't very deep; it was just a whim, so feeling bored, she decided to abandon her pursuit and went to have a drink instead.
...
After a while, feeling somewhat bored again, she suddenly heard a loud cheer from the bar.
"Beautiful!"
Britney turned to see that Poland had scored its third goal against the United States. The outcome was clear.
Shaking her head, she finished her drink and was about to leave when several drunken men charged over, hollering, "Hey, baby, come sit with us for a while!"
Britney responded sharply, "Get lost, I'm not your baby."
The fan was taken aback, recognizing her accent, "American?"
Then he broke into a big grin, "Look, it's an American chick!"
A group of people stood up to look at Britney, saying, "Hey there, come sit down. Let's celebrate your country getting scored on three times!"
One particularly drunk guy even reached for her face, saying, "Why wear a mask while drinking?"
Britney was startled and pushed him away, "Don't touch me! You creep!"
The drunk man glared at her, clearly annoyed, "Are you insulting me? What the heck!"
He lunged at Britney.
Soccer hooligans had always been an indispensable part of the World Cup scene, and it was a norm for drunken fans to start trouble.
Britney appeared to have found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Seeing the man come at her, she felt fear creeping in.
"What was I thinking running out here alone?"
How could she possibly find herself in a situation like this?
She regretted not bringing her manager and assistant and instinctively shouted for help as she backed away.
But the man grabbed her arm, reaching for her mask, "Let me see what kind of beauty you are."
"No!" Britney screamed.
...
Just then, a figure rushed toward the bar entrance.
It was Brydon.
He punched the drunken man, knocking him down.
Seeing this, the drunken man's friends charged over.
Brydon didn't pay attention, coolly landing a punch on another drunk.
His punches were solid, but he was no Jason Statham; with five or six big guys coming at him at once, he had to evade and retreat.
Accidentally bumping into a bystander cheering on drinks, that person angrily swung a bottle at Brydon's head.
Caught off guard, Brydon was hit, the world went dark for a moment, and out of anger, he retaliated with a punch.
The intoxicated brutes shot forward, and a scuffle broke out again.
In a situation with numbers against him, the key was to use space to pick them off one at a time. But losing that space made the odds quickly turn against Brydon.
...
Meanwhile, no one paid Britney any attention.
She shouted, "Stop it!"
"At a time like this, you should run, not stand there screaming uselessly," a calm voice whispered in her ear.
Britney turned in shock to see a young man wearing a mask appearing beside her. Despite the mask, she recognized him and gasped, "Ian Carr?"
How could he be here?
"Do me a favor and keep it down," Ian said with a smile as he loosened up his muscles.
Saying that, he took out a large stack of cash from his jacket, over ten thousand dollars.
He suddenly tossed the bills into the air.
In an instant, the bar was filled with fluttering, colorful bills.
The cash danced through the air, capturing the attention of countless people.
Their eyes widened as they watched the money fall, even the drunk man who had attacked Brydon was stunned.
In the face of cash, not even a drunken state could stop them; they could easily rise again!
After a moment of surprise, everyone lunged for the money simultaneously: "Cash!!!"
They dove for the bills, scrambling to pick them up.
"What are you doing?" Britney exclaimed.
"Saving you," Ian replied.
Though he said he was saving her, his gaze was fixed on the crowd.
You won't just pick up cash, will you? Do you even deserve to call yourselves soccer hooligans?
A strange light glinted in his eyes, and in that instant, several drunken men felt a surge of fiery anger.
They shouted, "My money!"
Their fists flew, knocking nearby people to the ground.
Chaos erupted instantly.
This time the bar's patrons weren't just after money; they launched a full-fledged brawl.
Some hot-tempered fighters didn't even bother with the cash -- they just came in swinging.
A wild barroom brawl erupted like in a Western movie, with everyone mixing it up together.
The bar staff and security, originally shouting "Don't panic, everyone get out!" all lost their minds under the influence of the money and frenzy, joining in the fray.
People were seen swinging tables, chairs, and anything else they could grab, turning the place into a battlefield.
...
Britney stood at the entrance, watching in shock, "Oh my God, what have you done?"
"Just tossed a spark into the firewood," Ian replied nonchalantly.
It was clear that even without his influence, they would likely still be brawling.
Then he turned to Britney with a slight smile, "You know what I'm about. Where Ian Carr goes, there's bound to be news."
Britney understood and gasped, "You did this on purpose? You weren't trying to save me, but to create news?"
Ian gently shook his head, "I don't like your wording. I usually enjoy hitting two birds with one stone -- saving the damsel and getting some news coverage at the same time."
"Then why not act directly?"
"Because there have been similar news stories already," Ian answered. "It's always either a hero saves a beauty or vice versa, don't you think that's a bit cliche? Sometimes we can just be observers."
With that, he smiled at Britney, "How about singing a song?"
"What?" Britney was stunned.
Ian pointed to the chaotic scene in the bar, where a drunken man was attempting to attack him but was met with a punch from Brydon.
Ian said, "What an interesting background! An MV created from a real bar fight -- it would be super popular! A battle of fans in a Korean bar, money flying. Britney Spears performing live, creating an MV in a real scene... this would be explosive news, and MTV would sell it like crazy!"
Britney stood there dazed.
Could they really pull something like this off?
Ian pushed her gently, "Don't waste time; the fighting won't last long."
As the chaos unfolded, Britney stared at him and involuntarily broke into song, singing Baby One More Time.
