Chapter 27: Transformation into Demons

"You darn crab, you dare kill my fish?!"

Li Quanqing stared at the half-alive, wriggling green fish on the ground, his gaze filled with displeasure.

For no reason, one of his pets had suddenly killed another.

This was a dangerous sign. In the blood of demon beasts, there was an innate wildness.

Clang

The Green Carp Sword let out a clear hum, transforming into a streak of light that flew out and hovered above the large crab. Golden sword energy flickered menacingly.

If the Ironbone Crab King showed any signs of going wild and attacking him,

it would be executed on the spot!

Gurgle

The Ironbone Crab King tilted its head, seemingly unaware of the killing intent emanating from the "chef" before it.

It even playfully tapped the flying sword with its large claw, producing a metallic clang, clearly having fun.

"This guy... doesn't seem like it's undergoing a demonic awakening, does it?"

Li Quanqing was hesitant.

Suddenly, several Ironbone Crabs stepped forward, their claws snapping as they dismembered the large green fish.

They weren't eating it but instead picked out dozens of thin, transparent strands from the fish's body, resembling noodles.

What is this...

Under the glaring sunlight, these transparent strands suddenly twisted violently, like earthworms struggling in a frying pan.

A sharp, piercing screech reached Li Quanqing's ears, and he finally realized what these things were.

Parasites!

Squeak! Squeak!

The high-pitched sound waves emitted by the dying parasites echoed through the fishpond as if triggering some kind of signal. The entire water surface instantly boiled.

Countless large green fish leaped out of the water, their eyes red with rage.

They attacked everything in sight, even their kind as if their bodies were filled with boundless energy.

It was like a thousand huskies tearing apart a house.

Damn it!

Li Quanqing's face turned green as he watched.

The Ironbone Crabs were also terrified by the scene, retreating to the top of the reef, huddling together and looking at him with helpless eyes.

Their claws snapped incessantly as if cheering for their master.

Li Quanqing didn't dare jump into the water to stop the chaos. Instead, he activated the formation protecting the fishpond, dividing the fish into dozens of separate areas.

Hum

Lotus flowers bloomed around the pond, drawing in spiritual energy from the surroundings. The formation patterns glowed, covering every inch of the twenty-acre water surface.

One square barrier after another formed each covering about an acre, isolating the large green fish while protecting the Ironbone Crabs and Moonlight Clams.

Thud! Thud!

The fish didn't calm down. One after another, they leaped up and slammed into the formation barriers.

Their scales shattered, their skin bleeding and transparent parasites wriggled out of their flesh, twisting wildly.

"This is insane!"

Li Quanqing was dumbfounded. The entire formation was being shaken, its light flickering.

Fortunately, he continuously channeled his spiritual energy into the lotus formation disk and inserted spirit stones to stabilize the situation.

Moo! Moo!

The twenty Azure Jade Carp struggled to escape from the frenzied fish, their bodies covered in wounds, whimpering pitifully.

Even in the water around them, dense clusters of parasites wriggled, trying to burrow into their skin and flesh.

"Such a powerful, evil parasite!"

Li Quanqing's pupils contracted.

The Azure Jade Carp, as the superior species to the large green fish, usually dominated the pond without fear of being challenged.

But now, infested by these demonic parasites, the large green fish had overcome their instincts and bloodline suppression. It was truly astonishing.

He quickly used his Water Control Technique to remove all the parasites, creating a clean and safe area to relocate the spirit beasts.

"I wonder how the Stone Spirit Loaches are doing..."

Li Quanqing sighed. At this point, he couldn't worry about them anymore.

[I Will Become a Dragon] Azure Jade Carp: "These damned parasites made me bleed and get hurt. From today on, I'll stop playing and focus on cultivation. I will become a dragon!"

[Maturity: 97%]

[Unyielding Ironbone] Ironbone Crab: "Who's scared? Not me! Just some bugs? Come at me, I'll take on ten at once!"

[Maturity: 99%]

[Cooling Shell] Moonlight Clam: "Ew~ these bugs are so gross. Good thing I can store lunar essence, or I'd have been eaten already~"

[Maturity: 38%]

...

He gently touched the carp, crabs, and clams, relieved to find that none of the spirit beasts had been infested.

He then scooped up one of the infested large green fish. Its scales had become more vibrant and thicker, showing signs of resembling the Azure Jade Carp.

[Lost Reason] Large Green Fish: "Devour! Devour! Devour! One bite of flesh, and I'll shed my mortal form to become a demon immortal!"

[Evolution: 69% (Parasitized)]

Li Quanqing was speechless. He quickly ended the fish's suffering with a single sword strike.

Parasites wriggled out of the fish's belly, their tops splitting open like flower petals, revealing sharp teeth. They had no other features besides their mouths.

Clang! Clang!

The boy spread his fingers, shooting out needle-like Golden Metal Sword Energy, shredding the parasites into mincemeat.

He deliberately left one alive, using his golden finger to identify the parasite's species.

[Confused and Dazed] Demon Transformation Parasite: "Parasitize! Devour! Reproduce! The meaning of all life is to become a demon!"

"What a strange name. It sounds like something the demon race created..."

Li Quanqing frowned. For some reason, he couldn't help but think of the three half-demons who had ambushed him that night.

Since returning from Baoqing Market, the large green fish had indeed been acting strange, becoming irritable from time to time.

It seemed that even earlier, the Demon Transformation Parasites had infiltrated the fishpond's waters.

Unfortunately, he hadn't taken it seriously or inspected each fish, leading to this oversight.

"This is a lesson. The fishpond's formation isn't foolproof. There are things it can't stop."

Li Quanqing looked at the nearly wiped-out two thousand large green fish, feeling helpless.

"I'll report this to the family. There's no way I can handle this situation alone."

The boy threw up his hands, choosing to give up.

He wasn't a lone rogue cultivator, and the Li family had stood strong for a millennium, weathering countless storms. They might have encountered this before.

Li Quanqing took out his Artifact Hall token. Thanks to his refining talent, he now had the privilege to directly contact the Third Elder.

Activating the communication formation, he briefly explained the entire process of discovering the parasites.

Li Kunli quickly replied: "Water-like parasites? Your C-zone fishpond has also been infested with this scourge?"

Li Quanqing keenly noticed the word 'also' and suddenly understood.

The formation in his fishpond couldn't stop the parasites, so others must be in the same situation. The entire family was likely affected.

This made the possibility of human involvement even greater.

"I understand. Someone will be sent to handle it shortly. Wait there, and don't spread the word about this."

With a click, the communication formation was abruptly cut off.

Li Quanqing sat on the reef, idly rubbing fish heads and crab shells as he waited.

About half an incense stick's time later, a girl in a blue dress arrived gracefully on a spirit vessel.

Li Quanshu waved her snow-white arm at him, her eyes smiling gently: "Junior Brother, the hall master said your fishpond has some issues. Do you need my help?"

Li Quanqing looked the girl up and down, pondering for a moment before cautiously asking: "Senior Sister, it's not that I don't trust you, but are you sure the elder sent you and not... someone else?"
