Chapter 10: Payback

Abandoned Building, Khadavli

1:00 PM

Rehansh stood near the abandoned building, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings as he spoke through the Bluetooth earpiece. His tone was calm yet authoritative, carrying a weight that made everyone listening straighten their backs.

"Is everything set?" he asked, his gaze fixed on the dilapidated structure where Chang was hiding. They had wasted time searching for him in his own properties, only to discover the coward had sought refuge with a friend. A reliable informant had tipped them off about Chang lingering in this area.

Listen carefully," Rehansh continued, his voice cold. "Our goal is not to kill. We need to capture Chang and take him back to our place. But if anyone gets in our way—eliminate them."

There was a deadly finality to his words, sending a shiver through even the most hardened men. Vansh, standing nearby, clenched his fists, his heart burning with hatred for Chang. The betrayal was still fresh, and his fury wasn't just reserved for Chang but for everyone who had helped him hide. Vansh was ready to spill blood, whether his brother allowed it or not.

"Team A, enter from the back gate silently and begin searching. Arav will guide you through the process," Rehansh instructed. "Team B, locate Chang and bring him back alive. Team C, stay vigilant and be prepared for backup. Understood?"

A chorus of "Yes, Boss!" echoed through the comms.

"Team A, move in. Team B, take your positions. Team C, stand guard," Vansh ordered, his impatience barely concealed. As Team B spread out, surrounding the building, Team A infiltrated silently while Team C remained on high alert.

"We're inside, Boss," Arav's voice crackled through the earpiece.

"Good. Keep me updated," Rehansh responded. "Team B, proceed to the west wing."

He turned to his side but noticed something immediately—Vansh was gone.

Inside the Building

"Arav, find Vansh before he does something reckless!" Rehansh barked, his irritation mounting.

But before Arav could respond, gunfire erupted inside the building. Yells and chaos followed.

"Invade the territory! Move!" Rehansh commanded, charging inside with his men.

Bullets flew, bodies fell, and the air was thick with gunpowder and sweat. Rehansh and Arav weaved through the corridors, dodging bullets and taking down enemies. Meanwhile, Vansh was on a rampage. His fury knew no bounds as he cut down anyone in his way. Having run out of bullets, he had resorted to using knives, slashing through men like a storm of destruction.

Vansh had entered through an east-side window, heading straight for the heavily guarded meeting room. The eight guards stationed there had barely seen him coming before he took them down with precise shots. He had expected to find Chang inside—but the room was empty.

Frustration ignited a new wave of rage within him. The thought of leaving even a single one of Chang's allies alive disgusted him. Without hesitation, he stormed to the next floor, his blade dripping with the consequences of his fury.

Meanwhile, Rehansh reached the ground floor near the meeting room. His sharp eyes swept over the scene—unconscious and injured men littered the floor. Vansh had already been here. And that meant only one thing—he was far ahead, and likely out of control.

"Ansh!" Rehansh groaned in frustration. He knew his brother wouldn't stop until he had either found Chang or burned the whole place down trying.

A sudden movement caught his eye. A man, hidden in the shadows, raised his gun—aimed directly at Vansh's back.

Without a second thought, Rehansh vaulted onto the railing and launched himself at the attacker. The force of his tackle sent them both crashing to the ground just as the bullet narrowly missed Vansh. Alerted, Vansh turned to see his brother overpowering the gunman. With a quick glance at the floor, Vansh realized Chang wasn't there either. Without hesitation, he bolted to the next level.

Rehansh, having neutralized the attacker, exhaled sharply. His patience was wearing thin.

"Arav, Shivin—meet me on the top floor. Now."

Rooftop - Confrontation

Vansh stormed onto the terrace, his eyes wild with fury.

"Chang! I know you're here, you coward! Come out and face me!" His voice rang out, followed by the deafening sound of gunfire as he fired shots at random.

Laughter echoed in response.

"VRS… or should I say, King VRS?" Chang taunted as he stepped out of the shadows. He was flanked by eight armed men. "Alone, are we? How tragic."

Vansh tilted his head before breaking into laughter. A low, mocking sound.

"You think I'm alone?" His smirk was razor-sharp. "No, Chang. I think you are."

Before Chang could react, his own men turned their guns toward him.

"Ay! Don't forget who I am—"

"You're nothing to us," one of them sneered, gun steady in his hands. "And today, you die."

"Ansh!!"

Rehansh's voice cut through the night as he marched onto the terrace, followed by Arav and Shivin.

"Rehan!" Vansh called out, grinning. "You won't believe this fool! He really thought he had the upper hand!" He chuckled as if the situation were nothing more than a joke.

Chang barely had time to process the betrayal before Rehansh closed the distance between them in a flash. His movements were swift and merciless. A sharp punch to the gut sent Chang doubling over, followed by a knee to the ribs that knocked him to the ground. The impact left him gasping, his confidence crumbling into dust.

"Take him," Rehansh ordered.

Arav and Shivin grabbed Chang by the arms, dragging his limp body toward the exit.

Old Rubber Factory - Interrogation

8:00 PM

The room was dimly lit, the only source of light being the pale glow of the moon filtering through a cracked window. The air was thick with tension as Rehansh took his seat in the corner, legs crossed, a glass of whiskey in one hand, a cigarette lazily resting between his fingers.

Chang, now tied to a chair, shifted uncomfortably. He was exhausted, his body aching from the earlier confrontation. But the real fear hadn't begun yet.

Rehansh exhaled a slow stream of smoke, watching him with an unsettling calmness.

"You had a good rest, Chang?" His voice was smooth, almost friendly. Almost.

Chang swallowed hard. "R-Rehansh, listen—"

The sound of a chair scraping against the floor interrupted him. Rehansh leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. His gaze was unreadable, yet it sent a cold chill down Chang's spine.

"You made a mistake," Rehansh said. "But I'm a reasonable man. So, let's make this simple."

Silence stretched between them. The weight of Rehansh's presence was suffocating.

"Where's the diamond?"

Chang's lips parted, but no words came out.

Rehansh sighed, rolling up his sleeves. "I don't have all night, Chang."

Shivin smirked, stepping forward. "Boss, maybe he just needs a little… encouragement."

Chang flinched as Shivin cracked his knuckles. His eyes darted to Vansh, who stood on the other side of the one-way mirror, watching intently.

"Fine! I'll tell you!" Chang blurted, his voice trembling.

Rehansh leaned back, satisfied. "Good choice."

The tension in the room lifted slightly, but one thing was clear—Rehansh hadn't even begun to show his true darkness.

"He wants to destroy you"

"Who?" Rehansh questioned

The answer would change everything .
