★The betrayal★

~Chapter 2~

Mating mark?

The Lycan king's eyes darkened as he took in his mate's battered form.

Shock still lingered within him, affected from the mating ceremony where he couldn't find anyone as his mate.

Despite gathering all the alpha's female children from around the world, she was nowhere to be found.

He'd almost went berserk when he couldn't find one in particular and that one had being her, Isabella, the alpha child from the bloodmoon pack, located on the west.

Kane remembered the surge of pheromones when he first laid eyes on her. His instincts had driven him to mate with her, despite the uncertainty about whether she was his fated mate at that time because it wasn't on a full moon.

Her scarred cheek and lack of a wolf had initially repulsed him, making him find her nasty and ugly.

She, not having a wolf was so shocking to him.

As the king he had lived a fair share of life and to hear or witness a shifter not having their wolf was, was a joke.

He gazed down at the mark on her neck, his anger resurfacing, the distinct scent of dead leaves wafted up, and his frown deepened.

That smell? That smell only emits from a long forgotten creatures. Those creatures were dead; he had ensured their extinction.

The nose disgusting smell wafted up even more, carrying with it the stench of a long-forgotten enemy.

The Nekros.

Those ancient bloodthirsty creatures, had once ruled the supernatural world with an iron fist, forcing the Lycans and werewolves to the shadows.

Their leader, called the original was a deadly king. But that was before the Great War, a thousand years ago, when the Lycans had risen up.

Kane's own ancestors had led the charge, killing the king and eradicating the Nekros before claiming dominance over the supernatural realm.

Lycans now are on top of the food chain while others cower in their rule.

The nekros are now myths and also very popular in movies by the humans, calling the vampires.

So why did their scent linger on his mate?

Kane tightenes his grip on the fragile girl as he stood up. Mind recoiling at her weakness and ugliness, she wiggled at the pressure on her.

Useless, weak and ugly.

Why would Selena pair him, a king, with someone so vulnerable? Someone who didn't even possess a wolf, making her an easy target even for humans.

"Who marked you?" Kane's menacing voice was even more commanding, the pheromones emitting from him threatened anything far and near to summit to his will but not this girl.

Isabella's eyes flashed with anger, despite her fear. who does he think he was to question her.

She has no idea what he was talking about but she didn't care.He could go fuck himself for all she cared.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she spat, wriggling harder to be free from his crushing grip.

"Who marked you!" Isabella struggled at the monster who screamed- chocking her, she doesn't know what the fuck Kane was talking about.

Yeah, that creature bit her, sucking her off her blood but it didn't mark her.

Did it?

She meekly raised her hand to Kane grip, scratching at his hand to free herself and her hand accidentally brushed over the alleged mate mark.

An unintentional moan escaped her lips as her sore core clenched.

Oh, horror filled her. She had been marked? What! Accidentally when he was draining her dry?

The pleasure lingered on her, momentarily forgetting about the grip.

Kane's expression turned darker, his anger finally boiling over. "Don't lie to me!" he snarled, slamming her against a nearby tree.

Isabella cried out, her side injured, but she refused to back down to the monster.

She was done being the cry baby, being the one everyone picks one and definitely done with the nightmare called life.

"I'm not lying!" she shouted, "And even if I was, what right do you have to question me?" She was calling her death but fuck it.

"You dare to shield the coward." Kane screamed, slapping her hard, Isabella face snapped to the other direction.

Kane's face twisted in rage, memories of his mother's betrayal flooding back.

His mother had slept with their beta at that time, abandoning him and his overly strict father, who wanted nothing but a perfect son, a perfect king and machine.

The pain and anger still lingered, and now Isabella's supposed infidelity felt like a fresh wound altogether.

Isabella weak body trembled, her head spinning from both blood lost and exhaustion. Her hands shook by her side as the grip almost cut off her airways.

The beta and warriors watched in shock as their cold, composed king lost control. Isabella's face turned to the side, tears pooling in her eyes, but she didn't back down.

Her death had always being written and she was prepared.

Kane face darkened. After just finding his fated mate and knowing she's marked by someone was disheartening to him.

She was unmarked some few hours ago when he had went to her- raped her-

Was she this much of a slut to come to a forest to cheat? And what a coward she cheated with, he couldn't even show himself.

Suddenly, Isabella's body began to tremble violently, her limbs contorting at unnatural angles.

"Ahhhh" A blood-curdling scream escaped her lips as her body snapped, the sound echoing through the forest so loud and unmistaken.

Kane dropped her to the floor, his face went pale. What was happening to her or him?

He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, breaking it with ease.

Cane? He called out to his Lycan, but no response. Cane?

His wolf had disappeared, leaving him to face the fact that his innocent-looking mate had betrayed him, had taken someone mark.

"Ahhh" Isabella screamed so loud again as her body snapped by itself, what in the world is happening to her.

it felt like something was trying to break free, her golden eyes glowed, seeing clearly through the forest.

'isa, I'm sorry.' A voice she couldn't quite place whispered in her head.

Who's there? She barely pushed out as her vision turned, eyes rolled into her skull while Kane looked at the betrayer as she loses conciseness.

He was shocked at her unpredictable reaction but he quickly composed, glaring hard at the unconscious body.

"Pick her up," He barely growled, "We're returning to the pack lands." Isabella's fate was sealed; she would pay for her betrayal.

They departed the forest and the Lycan king's heart turned stone cold, his anger and hurt fueling a burning desire for vengeance.

He was not going to take this lightly, as soon as there reach the pack lands she was as good as dead.

Just when he had thought he found his soulmate, it was a whore.

The irony.
