Chapter 98: The Trouble-Making Klee

Klee stared at Qiu Bai in utter amazement, unable to say a word.

"Big brother, you're amazing!"

"As expected of someone who can defeat a great sea monster!"

Klee cupped her cheeks with both hands, her eyes sparkling with admiration as she gazed at Qiu Bai.

"Hehe, come on, Klee."

"Didn't you want to eat fish?"

Qiu Bai slowly lowered the whirling vortex of water from above his head until it hovered just a centimeter off the ground.

Klee eyes widened in excitement as she ran over, her face filled with curiosity as she leaned in closer to examine the spinning fish inside the vortex.

"Wow..."

This was the first time Klee had ever seen such a dreamlike scene.

Inside the swirling water, one particular fish had its back facing Klee.

It wagged its tail.

Then, after a moment, it swam back toward her wagging its tail again.

As if it was mocking her.

Qiu Bai mouth twitched.

It seemed like Klee had really pissed off the fish.

Well, to be fair, they had been peacefully swimming in their lake, and then—BOOM!—a bomb dropped out of nowhere.

"Klee, have you decided which fish you want to eat?"

Qiu Bai glanced at her.

Klee was still staring in awe at the swirling water, only snapping out of it when she heard him call her name.

"This one!"

"I want this fish! It looks like it really likes me!"

She pointed without hesitation, right at the same fish that had been wagging its tail at her.

Unlike the other fish, this one kept swimming closer instead of trying to flee.

"Hehehe."

"Alright, but one fish won't be enough, right?"

Qiu Bai chuckled and flicked his fingers, the fish Klee pointed at floated out of the vortex, gently levitating beside her.

With another flick, a few random fish from the vortex were also pulled out.

Then, with a sweeping motion, he sent the remaining fish and water vortex back into the lake.

"Yay! Yay! big brother Qiu Bai!"

"Klee will go find firewood!"

Klee giggled happily before dashing off toward the nearby forest, her tiny legs bounding with excitement.

Qiu Bai smiled as he watched her run off.

Then, with both hands, he picked up a large rock and set it down on the ground.

With a wave of his hand, the rock dust and dirt were completely wiped away.

Next, he turned his gaze toward the floating fish.

With a small gesture, a dark aura surrounded them, instantly removing their scales and guts.

Effortlessly, he placed two cleaned fish onto the now pristine stone surface.

But before he could proceed a panicked voice rang out.

"Oh no, oh no! Disaster incoming!"

From the distant forest, Klee panicked voice suddenly rang out.

Qiu Bai's brows furrowed, and in an instant, he vanished from where he stood.

The next moment, he appeared right behind Klee.

"What's wrong, Klee?"

"Are you okay?"

Qiu Bai quickly scanned the surroundings.

Just ahead of them, several trees were engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading rapidly.

Squirrels, wild boars, and other small animals were fleeing for their lives.

"Big brother Qiu Bai… Klee is doomed..."

"I was gathering firewood, but it was a bit damp, so I tried to dry it with my Vision and then, accidentally…"

Tears welled up in Klee eyes.

She lowered her head, wiping at them like a child who knew she had done something wrong.

"It's okay, little Klee."

"Don't forget big brother is someone who can defeat a great sea monster, remember?"

Qiu Bai crouched down and gently patted Klee's head.

"Does big brother Qiu Bai have a way to fix this?"

"It's all Klee fault..."

Klee looked up at him, her red-rimmed eyes filled with guilt, but Qiu Bai simply smiled reassuringly.

"Of course."

With a slight grin, Qiu Bai pointed toward the distant lake.

Suddenly the lake water lifted into the air, rippling like an enormous floating cloth.

People walking through Mondstadt rubbed their eyes in disbelief.

"A-Am I still dreaming?"

"Did the water just float into the sky?"

"Pinch me."

"Okay."

"Why so hard?! That hurts like hell!"

"Well, now you know if you're dreaming or not."

"You little—! Ow!!"

Meanwhile, Klee eyes widened in amazement as she watched the massive sheet of water floating in the air.

She had only ever seen something this magical in fairy tale books.

With a flick of Qiu Bai finger the water cloth descended, completely covering the raging fire below.

SSSST—!

With a sharp hissing sound, the entire wildfire was extinguished instantly.

Before Klee could even react.

Qiu Bai pointed again and the burnt blackened trees and grass were suddenly enveloped in a soft white glow.

Within this gentle light, the charred plants slowly regrew sprouting fresh green leaves.

In mere moments, the entire forest looked as if it had never been burned at all.

Klee stood there completely stunned, staring at the lush greenery before her.

Her tiny legs carried her forward as she reached out to touch a tree that had just been reduced to ashes moments ago.

Then turning back to look at Qiu Bai, she beamed up at him with a bright smile.

"Big brother, you're amazing!"

Qiu Bai chuckled and folded his arms.

"Heh, of course after all I am an Adepti."

"But little Klee, you need to practice controlling your elemental power more."

Qiu Bai chuckled softly, crouching down to gently remind her.

"Mmm... but Klee still likes using bombs better."

"But since big brother Qiu Bai said so, I'll go practice later."

Klee scratched her head sheepishly, swaying her small body back and forth.

"Then let's head back and grill some fish."

"I've already got the firewood ready, Klee."

Qiu Bai looked at her fondly, speaking in a doting tone.

"Yay!"

"Grilled fish, grilled fish!"

Excited, Klee hopped in place before happily following Qiu Bai back to their cooking spot.

On the way, Klee tilted her head in confusion.

"Big brother Qiu Bai, where's the firewood you mentioned?"

"Klee doesn't see it anywhere."

She looked up at him with curious eyes.

Qiu Bai simply grinned and turned his gaze toward a nearby Hilichurl camp.

There, a dozen Hilichurls stood, each gripping a large wooden club.

Among them, a taller stronger Hilichurl wielded an even bigger wooden club, several times the size of the others.

With a casual wave of his hand, all their weapons suddenly flew into the air and landed neatly in a pile.

The now unarmed Hilichurls started yelling in their strange language, waving their arms frantically.

They were clearly furious, but all they could do was watch helplessly as their clubs floated away toward the forest.

Qiu Bai chuckled and sat down on a rock.

"See? The firewood has arrived."

"Top-quality material, it'll make excellent charcoal."

Klee sat across from him, still staring at the pile of wooden clubs in confusion.

"Big brother Qiu Bai, these look like the Hilichurls weapon?"

She tilted her head in thought.

"They are."

Qiu Bai smiled knowingly, watching her puzzled expression.

Klee eyes sparkled with admiration.

"Big brother Qiu Bai is amazing!"

"First water, now fish, and even Hilichurl clubs—it's like you can make anything appear!"

She looked at him with pure awe in her gaze.

Qiu Bai let out a light laugh.

"Hehe, just focus on your fish, Klee."

"You handle the fire."

Klee nodded eagerly.

Her Pyro Vision glowed faintly, and in the next moment.

A massive fireball shot out from her weapon!

Qiu Bai instinctively stepped back, startled by the sheer force of it.

With a loud whoosh, the pile of wood immediately caught fire burning fiercely.

After waiting a while, the flames died down, leaving behind perfectly charred charcoal.

Qiu Bai and Klee each took a branch, skewered their fish and placed them over the hot coals to cook.

As they waited, Klee pulled out a handful of seasoning from her backpack, sprinkling it over the fish.

Once the fish was golden brown, Klee couldn't wait any longer—she took a big bite.

"Mmm! The fish is still as delicious as ever!"

"Klee loves it!"

She happily swung her tiny legs back and forth, hugging the large grilled fish with both hands.

Qiu Bai took a bite as well and smiled.

"You're right, Klee."

"These seasonings of yours go perfectly with grilled fish."

Watching the joyful little girl enjoy her meal, Qiu Bai couldn't help but chuckle softly.
