Chapter 24- I like smart mates

Ophelia changed the subject and chatted a bit more with Waldo before hanging up the phone...

Waldo put away his phone and, at the right moment, slightly turned his head to glance at Regina. She was staring at him, her brow occasionally furrowing, her lips twitching slightly, completely lost in her own thoughts.

Waldo's gaze grew deeper, and a faint look of displeasure appeared on his otherwise cold, stern face.

The air in the car became heavier, thick with an almost suffocating pressure. Regina snapped out of her reverie just as her gaze met Waldo's, those piercing eyes she had come to know too well. A shiver ran down her spine, her lips trembling slightly, a flush of awkwardness spreading across her face.

"Wh-what's wrong?" Regina stammered, and for a moment, she wondered if it had all been a figment of her imagination. How could someone with an aura so chilling be so gentle toward another?
