Chapter 38- risk

After Regina washed up and changed upstairs, she came back down. She wasn't hungry and didn't eat. Apologizing to Lara, she walked out of the room. Standing outside, she gazed at the large door ahead, her eyes filled with intense longing.

Yes, even if he let her go, she wouldn't dare leave.

Pete's fate… she couldn't afford to gamble with it.

If it were just herself, she wouldn't care, but… her mother, Cornell… Could she really take that risk?

A self-deprecating look passed through her eyes as she tilted her head slightly to the sky. The morning sun dyed the eastern horizon, casting blinding light. Thick clouds drifted across the sky, draping the bright sunlight with a layer of melancholy.

Time didn't move faster or slower based on a person's sorrow or happiness. Regina stayed in the yard, silently. She didn't even eat lunch.

Lara came out and saw Regina sitting on the bench in the yard. She sighed softly and walked over to her.
