Chapter 51- battlefield

Martin froze in place, his gaze fixed on Regina. The hallway had been dimly lit earlier—he hadn't seen clearly. But now, under the stark fluorescent lights of the ER, the faint imprint of fingers on her pale face emerged like a haunting brand. His eyes darkened, the beast within him stirring.

A faint groan escaped Regina's lips. Her brows knit tightly, her face ghostly pale in the sterile light. The warmth of his arms brought her a fleeting sense of safety, but the pain in her body slowly began to drag her back into awareness.

That whisper of pain yanked Martin from his spiraling thoughts. He strode forward, voice sharp and cold: 

"Prepare a room. Get the attending surgeon here. Now."

"Yes, Alpha!" The nurse, glancing nervously at the unconscious girl in his arms, rushed to obey.
