It was afternoon, as Jace's leg was now stitched up and had received a rabies shot. He rested in the hospital bed as Hannah sat with him, opposite of his wounded leg. Jace asked for water as the angel walked out of the hallway to get water. She got the water cup and made her way to Jace's room. Then the Sounds of commotion and activity echoed through the corridor, making Angel's sense of urgency heightened.
Angel turned to the approaching ambulance team, noticing the urgency in their steps. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a team of paramedics rushed in with a wheelchair, a gurney, and a pregnant patient.
The commotion was sudden and chaotic, and the woman in labor looked panicked. In the midst of the rush, Basil's foot was caught under the gurney, as he winced in pain. Through the pain he aided them by clearing a path to a clear room. Angel rushed with getting water back to Jace in his room before attending to the pregnant woman as they were low with staff.
As Angel walked out of the room, she could sense that there was a lot of commotion in the hallway. The ambulance lights were still flashing outside, and the sounds of hurried footsteps and urgent voices echoed through the corridor.
She quickened her pace, making her way towards the room that the pregnant woman was in.
Reaching the room, she saw the paramedics and a doctor in the room, tending to the patient. It appeared that she had been rushed in urgently because her labor was too fast.
The expectant mother was in her room, her face flushed with the intensity of her contractions. Angel observed as doctors and nurses bustled about, preparing for the delivery. The room was tense, a mixture of excitement and a hint of impatience.
Angel stepped closer to the bed, glancing at the woman's face. "How far apart are your contractions, Ms. Emma." she asked, checking the records.
Angel worked alongside the medical team, offering her support as they monitored the patient's condition. The contractions were coming faster now, and the baby was almost ready to be born. Angel felt the nervous energy in the room, the tension in the air palpable. As the time neared, both the mother and Angel braced themselves for the big moment.
After a few more minutes of intense effort, the mother was on the brink of delivering her baby. Angel held the woman's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You're doing great, Emma", she said encouragingly. "Just a few more pushes…"
The doctor instructed the mother to push, and a few moments later, the first cry of a newborn filled the room. It was a girl!
Angel smiled, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. "You did it!" she said, looking at Emma. You both have a beautiful baby girl. "You have a beautiful baby girl."
After the baby was delivered, the doctor carefully cleaned the infant and wrapped her up in a soft blanket before placing her in the mother's arms. A prenatal nurse appeared to help Emma with guides to help her newborn baby girl, while other medical staff tidied up the room.
Angel stood next to the mother, watching as she held the baby. "Congratulations," she said, looking at the mother's fatigued expression. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired, in pain, and happy," Emma says, a bit out of breath, holding her baby. The baby was resting and snug in a blanket cocoon.
Angel asked Emma, what her baby's name is. As Emma replied happily looking at her sleeping baby, "Her name is... Lilian, like her grandmother."
Angel smiled, "Beautiful name, Ms. Emma."
as the angel goes outside to let the prenatal nurse take over. As she does so, Basil comes up to her.
Basil asked Angel if her number was still the same as before. Angel replied, "I changed it a while ago, when I accidently dropped it over a bridge while taking a selfie, as a bird tried to eat it".
He asked Angel why a bird would go after her phone, as she replied.
"Well, I was eating churros and holding my bag, so the churros were in the same hand as my phone...", She said.
Basil asked if they wanted to go for dinner later today.
Angel smiles and nods, then says, "Just don't bring religion to the table, that's how we broke up... ok..."
"Of course," He says as he rubs the back of his head, "I wouldn't want to repeat my mistake... long ago."
They part ways as they resume their job, as Angel checks up on Jace with Hannah. As Basil went back to the ambulance to await other rescuing.
