I ordered two servings of pancakes without much thought.
When the food arrived, Emma Watson didn't touch her fork. She frowned at me:
"Dane, just eat something light for now. I'll make you a proper meal when we get back tonight."
I couldn't help but sneer:
"Emma Watson, what 'get back' are you talking about?
"Get it straight, we're separated right now, not officially divorced yet."
Emma Watson's face darkened.
"But it's good we're ending it now, saves us from going through divorce proceedings later," I added.
She stared at me intently, then suddenly smiled.
"Dane, what kind of reverse psychology game is this?
"Let's be honest, you're just trying to force me to change my mind, right? We've been married for five years, it's time we put some real effort into this.
"Once you're married, you can't keep talking about divorce or going abroad whenever you feel like it."
She looked at me with an air of smug omniscience.
Her eyes were full of condescending disdain.
I sighed.
