Seeing this, Kai exclaimed, "Tony, you and Yinsen are moving too fast. It's only been two days, and you've already made a breakthrough."
He ran his hand over the metal in front of him. "Is this the latest alloy you made based on Uru metal?"
Tony grinned. "Of course. We ran a bunch of experiments and found the best alloy formula. This is the final result. The tests show it's working even better than expected, so the next step is obvious—we're making a brand-new suit."
Kai could hear the excitement in Tony's voice as he continued, "Not only does this alloy have incredible resistance to magic, but it's also way stronger than the metal I'm using now. Plus, its energy storage capabilities are off the charts."
Kai decided to stick around as Tony got to work. With Yinsen assisting, they crafted the first prototype of the new battle suit, painted in classic red and gold.
As soon as it was ready, Tony suited up, eager to test its capabilities. "Come on, Kai, let's put this thing through its paces."
Kai nodded and teleported the three of them to a remote, uninhabited location where they could test without restrictions. Tony and Kai stood face to face, while Yinsen monitored the experiment with a data scanner.
At first, Tony wanted to test the suit's durability in hand-to-hand combat. Kai complied, starting with light punches and gradually increasing his strength. He could feel the difference—the suit absorbed and dispersed impact far more efficiently than Tony's previous models.
When Kai finally struck with close to his full strength, he managed to dent the armor and send Tony stumbling back. "Not bad," Kai said, impressed.
Tony, catching his breath, grinned inside the helmet. "You almost had me there." He turned to Yinsen. "That dent tells us a lot. Kai nearly went all out, and the suit held up. That means we're on the right track."
Yinsen nodded, checking the readings. "It's holding strong, but we'll need to reinforce stress points."
Tony clapped his hands together. "Alright, next phase. The suit's energy projection system is designed using what we learned from the Destroyer. I tweaked it to boost power output. Let's see how it handles in action."
Kai and Tony proceeded to test offensive capabilities, running through repulsor blasts, energy discharges, and high-speed maneuvers. Finally, they put the suit's defenses through stress tests, measuring how well it resisted energy and physical attacks.
Once the data was gathered, the three teleported back to the villa. Tony and Yinsen immediately dove into analysis, while Kai leaned back, watching them work.
After a while, Tony stretched and said, "Alright, results are in—compared to my previous suits, this one's got nearly double the power in offense, defense, and energy efficiency."
Kai smirked. "Looks like you're finally stepping into the big leagues, Tony. Next time we run into trouble, all three of us can handle it together."
Tony and Yinsen exchanged a glance, both nodding. It was clear Tony had felt the sting of being outclassed before, and now, he was eager to prove himself.
Just then, Kai's phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. Answering it, he quickly recognized the voice—Steve Rogers.
Steve had finally completed his crash course in modern history. Despite Nick Fury's best efforts to keep him at S.H.I.E.L.D., Steve had made up his mind—he was leaving. According to him, Nick had spent the past two days telling him all sorts of things about Kai, clearly trying to turn him against him. But Steve wasn't the type to judge based on someone else's words.
As soon as he stepped out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. building, he called Kai. First, to thank him for speaking up for him, and second, to hear Kai's perspective on the modern world.
After hearing Steve out, Kai replied, "Alright, tell me where you are, and I'll come pick you up. We can grab some food and talk."
Hanging up, he turned to Tony and Yinsen. "You guys keep at it. A friend of mine just got out of S.H.I.E.L.D., so I'm heading out."
Tony waved him off. "Go, go, we've got work to do."
Kai teleported near the S.H.I.E.L.D. building and spotted Steve waiting by the sidewalk.
"Hey, Steve," Kai called out. "How was your stay at S.H.I.E.L.D.? Getting used to things yet?"
Steve looked up, still adjusting to everything. "It's… a lot," he admitted. "Feels like I took a nap and woke up in a completely different world."
Kai chuckled. "You'll get used to it. By the way, surprised to see me so soon?"
"Yeah," Steve nodded. "How'd you get here so fast?"
Kai grinned. "Superpowers."
Steve seemed more curious than shocked. "You serious?"
"Yup. But I'll explain over food. Let's go grab a bite first."
As they walked, Steve was still processing everything. "So, what exactly do you do?"
Kai thought for a moment before smirking. "Oh, you'll see. Actually, my family runs a restaurant. How about we go there?"
Steve raised an eyebrow. "Works for me. But how are we getting there?"
Kai simply chuckled. "Just watch."
He led Steve to a quiet alleyway, then opened a shimmering portal in front of them. Without hesitation, he stepped through, motioning for Steve to follow.
To his credit, Steve barely hesitated before walking through. The next thing he knew, they were standing inside a cozy restaurant.
