_Chapter 2: Secrets and Summers_
Alex and I walked through the empty halls, our footsteps echoing off the walls. We chatted about everything and nothing, catching up on lost time. But I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to his story.
As we turned a corner, Alex stopped in front of a door marked "Staff Room." He produced a key from his pocket and unlocked the door.
"Welcome to the inner sanctum," he said, gesturing for me to enter.
The room was dimly lit, with rows of old desks and chairs stacked against the walls. Alex walked over to a large, wooden cabinet and pulled out a dusty old file.
"I've been working on a project," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Something big. And I need your help."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of project?"
Alex hesitated, glancing around the room as if he feared being overheard.
"It's about the school's past," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "About the secrets that have been hidden here for decades."
My curiosity was piqued. What secrets could Ravenswood Academy possibly hold? The Mysterious Founder
Alex and I walked out of the cafeteria, into the bright sunlight. The school's grounds were immaculately manicured, with lush green lawns and vibrant flowers. But despite the idyllic setting, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
"So, tell me more about Malcolm Ravenswood," I said, curiosity getting the better of me.
Alex nodded, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "Ravenswood was a wealthy industrialist who made his fortune in the late 19th century. He was known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in education."
I raised an eyebrow. "And he founded Ravenswood Academy?"
Alex nodded. "Yes, in 1885. The school was originally intended for the children of wealthy families, but over time, it evolved into the prestigious boarding school we know today."
I frowned, trying to piece together the information. "But what's the connection between Ravenswood and the secret society?"
Alex hesitated, glancing around nervously. "I'm not entirely sure," he admitted. "But I've found some cryptic references to a group called 'The Order of the Raven.' It's possible that Ravenswood was involved with this group, and that they're still active today."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. The Order of the Raven sounded ominous, and I couldn't help but wonder what their true purpose was.
As we walked, the school's buildings seemed to loom over us, casting long shadows in the sunlight. I felt like we were being watched, and the air seemed to vibrate with secrets and lies.
Suddenly, Alex stopped in front of a large, stone building. "This is Ravenswood Hall," he said, his voice low and serious. "The school's administrative offices are located here. And I think this is where we'll find our first clue."
I raised an eyebrow, my heart racing with anticipation. What secrets lay hidden within Ravenswood Hall?
