At this moment, Ayr was slightly surprised.
Was the auction really starting with such an explosive item?
If he weren't aware of the rarity and prestige of the 21 O Wazamono blades, he might have assumed this was just an overpriced weapon.
However, considering that this auction was organized by the wealthiest and most infamous merchants in the world, it made sense that only the finest treasures would be up for sale.
"A Supreme Grade blade…?" Ayr muttered under his breath, watching intently.
The host's voice echoed across the room:
"Starting bid: Fifty million Berries!"
Without hesitation, Ayr was the first to place a bid.
"One hundred million Berries!!!"
The room fell silent for a moment before erupting into murmurs.
No one had expected the price to double so quickly.
Many of the pirates who had been interested in the blade abandoned their bids at that moment, realizing they couldn't compete.
"Two hundred million Berries!!!"
A deep, commanding voice rang out from behind Ayr.
Gasps filled the auction house as all eyes turned toward the new bidder.
"That's… Byrnndi Wald!"
"What?! Byrnndi Wald?! That guy has a bounty of two billion Berries!"
"I've heard rumors that he's attacked multiple Marine bases!"
"Damn, I never expected to see someone that terrifying at this auction!"
Byrnndi Wald, known as the World Destroyer, was a name that struck fear into even the most hardened pirates.
A man whose ambitions rivaled those of Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, and Whitebeard, he aimed to overthrow the World Government itself.
Ayr narrowed his eyes, glancing toward Byrnndi Wald.
He found it odd. As far as he knew, Byrnndi Wald didn't use swords.
In battle, Wald wielded his Moore-Moore Fruit powers, capable of amplifying his attacks to devastating levels. Even in his fight against Luffy in the original timeline, he relied on his fists.
So why was he spending two hundred million Berries on a sword?
Ayr couldn't wrap his head around it, but one thing was certain—he wasn't giving up.
"Four hundred and fifty million Berries!"
The bid escalated once again.
But then—
"One billion Berries."
The auction house fell into stunned silence.
The disbelief in the air was almost tangible as all eyes locked onto Byrnndi Wald.
Ayr frowned.
"Is this guy actually here to buy something… or is he just causing trouble?"
No, rather than causing trouble, Ayr had a strong feeling that Wald wasn't planning to pay for anything at all.
After all, these were pirates. The strongest one makes the rules.
Ayr had no intention of bidding further.
He had a gut feeling that the moment the auction ended, chaos would erupt.
All he had to do was wait for the right moment to take what he wanted.
The host, ecstatic over the bidding war, raised his voice:
"One billion Berries… any higher bids?!"
Silence.
"One billion, going once!"
"One billion, going twice!"
"One billion—SOLD!"
With the sale concluded, the auction moved forward, presenting more rare and valuable artifacts.
Just as Ayr had expected, Byrnndi Wald outbid everyone on every single item.
Regardless of what was being sold, he always placed the highest bid without hesitation.
Finally, the auction reached its climax.
The host grinned widely.
"Now, for the grand finale of the auction!"
Two attendants stepped forward, carrying a massive chest. They carefully placed it at the center of the stage.
As the chest was opened, the entire room gasped.
Inside were three Devil Fruits.
Ayr's eyes sharpened as a slight smirk formed on his lips.
"Looks like I came at the perfect time."
His objectives for coming to Hive Island had been clear from the start:
1. Acquire a Supreme Grade Blade.
2. Obtain a Devil Fruit.
And now, both of those items were here.
He didn't even need to place a bid—because he was certain that Byrnndi Wald would make his move soon.
The host excitedly announced:
"The bidding for these three Devil Fruits starts at 300 million Berries!"
As expected, Wald immediately spoke.
"One and a half billion Berries."
The entire venue broke into whispers.
"Is this guy serious?! He's bought EVERYTHING at this auction!"
"The total cost of everything he's bid on must be in the tens of billions of Berries!"
"Wait a minute… he's not planning to pay, is he?!"
Realization dawned on the pirates in the audience.
Even with his massive bounty, there was no way Byrnndi Wald had that much money.
And if he didn't…
That meant only one thing—he planned to take everything by force.
The host, oblivious to the brewing tension, shouted enthusiastically:
"One and a half billion Berries, any higher bids?!"
Silence.
"One and a half billion, going once!"
"One and a half billion, going twice!"
"One and a half billion—SOLD!"
Byrnndi Wald stood up and smirked.
"Pack up all my winnings."
His crew followed him as he approached the stage.
The front desk clerk greeted him with a forced smile.
"Mr. Byrnndi Wald, how will you be paying?"
Wald chuckled.
"My money's on my ship. If you want, you can come with me to collect it."
The clerk's smile faltered.
"Sir… you're not planning to pay, are you?"
Before he could react—
SHING!!!
One of Byrnndi Wald's men slashed the clerk in half.
Blood splattered across the floor.
Wald laughed.
"Looks like you won't be seeing my ship after all. What a shame."
His crew quickly began gathering the auctioned items.
It was clear now—Byrnndi Wald was going to take everything by force.
But before he could leave—
"Wait."
Two voices rang out at the same time.
Ayr turned his head slightly, surprised.
Beside him, Kaido had also stood up.
Ayr hadn't expected the future Beast King to make a move.
However, he didn't dwell on it.
He simply locked eyes with Byrnndi Wald and spoke calmly:
"You can take anything else.
But the Supreme Grade Blade and the Devil Fruits… those stay with me."
