Future Sight (3)

" It seems like a commotion has broken out. Shall we go see it? " Akira suggested to which Itsuki uttered quite indifferently, " This isn't any of my business, but you're free to go watch if you're that curious, Shirano. As for me, I'll be heading inside. "

Itsuki almost made it inside the school gates when he was stopped by someone. Grabbing his arm firmly, he turned to see Felix Amamiya standing before him with pleading eyes.

" I didn't do it. I didn't do anything. I'm innocent. You believe me, don't you? "

" Believe you, you say? "

Staring at him, he grinned frantically before saying, " Why should I believe you when I don't even know you that well, Amamiya? "

Broken, he released his hand and Itsuki was able to make his way inside. During school hours, Itsuki couldn't stop thinking of Felix's pleading eyes, as if he wanted someone to believe him.

Throughout lunch, he didn't have an appetite. Noticing this, Akira inquired, " What is it, Ando? Is your bento not to your liking? "

Not answering him the first time, Akira continued, " Are you still thinking about what happened this morning? "

Answering this time, he uttered, " Where's Amamiya now? "

" He must be detained, I think. " He responded. " To be honest, what happened is so crazy that even I can't believe it. "

Curious to know more, he asked, " What do you mean? "

" Felix Amamiya is known by all to be a delinquent, always causing fights, but I don't think he would have gone as far as beating someone to death. What do you think, Ando? Don't you find this situation rather strange too? "

" I don't know anything. " He uttered explicitly to Akira. " After all, I don't know him that well. He might just be the culprit. "

Not inquiring about the matter further, Akira and Itsuki finished their lunches and returned to class.

When Akira was gone and was no longer in sight, Itsuki made a detour to the nurse's office. Fortunately for him, no one seemed to be present as the nurse was out and the supposedly injured student was asleep.

Gazing at the injuries, Itsuki quickly brought out his phone from his inside pocket and took some pictures before quickly stepping out of the infirmary.

At P.E. Itsuki preferred running laps instead of participating in the game with the others. While running his laps, he stopped at some point and gazed at the picture he took inside the infirmary.

" For someone who was beaten to death by someone known to have a bad reputation, how come the injuries are this minimum? Shouldn't there be more? " He mumbled.

" What are you doing? "

A student who was also running laps like him asked from behind. Quickly putting the phone away, he turned and uttered, " Nothing. I was just resting my feet. "

Not asking further, the student went ahead of him and Itsuki mumbled, " That was close. He almost caught me. "

Moments later, as school was out, Itsuki headed to the police department inside the school when no one else was around.

Meeting with the officer, he asked him, " What are you doing here, Kid? Shouldn't you be heading home like everyone else? "

" Yes, officer. " He nodded. " Before I go, may I see Amamiya for a second? "

" What business would you have with someone like him? " The police officer asked to which Itsuki responded, " He hasn't been found guilty yet, so we shouldn't assume anything. "

Convinced that Felix Amamiya was the culprit due to the reputation he's been carrying out with him, the officer uttered, " Whatever your motives might be here, I cannot let you see him. Anything else I might do for you? "

" When will he be transferred? " He asked and the officer hypothetically asked, " Is that important? "

Listening to the tone of voice, Itsuki emphasized to him, " I'd like to see him before he leaves. Would that be possible? "

" Even if I were to tell you the exact time, you wouldn't be able to see him off, so what's the point? "

Staring at him, the officer added, " He'll be departing from here to the central police station as early as 6 a.m. Will you be able to make it? "

In response, he uttered, " Thanks for letting me know. I'll be taking my leave now. "

Itsuki left the police department and headed outside where Akira was waiting for him with questions.

" Sorry to have kept you waiting. I had an urgent need to go to the bathroom when class concluded. " He explained very flimsily.

" Let's be on our way! "

Not asking any further questions to Itsuki, they went their separate ways after bidding goodbye to each other.

At home, Itsuki ate earlier than usual which his father found rather strange. Thinking of asking him whether something was up, he uttered, " Do you have lots of homework to do tonight? "

" What? "

Picking himself up on time when he gazed at the time, he uttered, " Yes, you've guessed right, Dad. "

" Ah, I see. " He grinned. " Good luck with your school work, Son. "

" Thanks. "

Fifteen minutes later, Itsuki heads to bed after washing the dishes. Setting his alarm clock an hour earlier than usual, he slept until the following morning.

" Why are you leaving so soon? It's not even six yet. "

The father was intrigued by his son leaving for school at five in the morning. Conflicted about what to tell him, Itsuki emphasized, " I have to meet with a professor before school starts. He arrives as early as six, so I have to leave if I'm to reach there on time. "

" That explains it. " The father seemed to believe his story before saying soon after, " That's too bad, then. As you woke up earlier than usual, I didn't have enough time to make your bento. What are you going to eat? "

Worried about his alimentation, Itsuki uttered, " Don't concern yourself with my stomach, Dad. I can just eat at the cafeteria today, so don't worry too much. "

" But, are you sure? " The father asked, puzzled. " Last time I checked, you didn't like cafeteria food, so how are you going to cope? "

At that moment, he mumbled, " Just how many flaws does the original Itsuki possess? "

Staring at his father, he uttered, " I'll make do for today, but I'll be expecting my bento tomorrow. "

Delighted, he saw Itsuki off as he went to school. On the way to school, inside the train, he mumbled, " I need to be extra careful from now on. I almost got in trouble for nothing. "

Twenty minutes later, Itsuki reached school. Checking the time through his phone, it was 5:28 a.m. when he was now standing in front of the police department.

" It's you again, kid. " The officer frowned his eyebrows. " What are you doing here again? " He asked, displeased.

In response, Itsuki uttered," You said yesterday that if I were to show up before six in the morning, you would let me see him. That's why I'm here—----- So, may I please see him now? It's almost six. " He uttered as he checked the time once more.

Helpless, the officer let him inside, reminding him of the time remaining. Walking through the halls, he finally reached Felix's cell a minute later.

" Amamiya, wake up! "

Itsuki called out his name, realizing he was sleeping.

" What are you doing here, Ando? "

Standing straight and frowning his eyebrows at him, Itsuki uttered in response, " I'm here to see you, Amamiya. "

" You're here to see me? " He frowned even further, " What business do you have with a criminal? "

Feeling the awkwardness that was now residing between them, Itsuki uttered, " I can understand what you might be feeling after what happened yesterday, but what else could I have done at the time? "

Felix remained silent at the question, bringing Itsuki to continue what he was saying. " You have always been known to be a delinquent, Amamiya. Until a few days ago, you were making fun of me with your friends. "

Gazing at him, he inquired, " So tell me, who in their right mind would believe you? "

Analyzing what he had said, Felix asked, " Then, why are you here? Just like everyone else, you also believe that I'm the culprit, right? "

Shocking him, Itsuki inferred, " It's too early to say, Amamiya, but we can't deny that all the proof designs you as the prime culprit. "

" I don't understand, Ando. What are you trying to say? "

He expressed his confusion to Itsuki who said, " I took these pictures earlier and I came to show them to you. "

Handing him the phone, Itsuki accentuated his words, " You supposedly beat him to death, so how come he only has minor injuries on him? "

!

" You're known to be the strongest fighter around, at least inside this school premises, so if you truly injured him like he claimed you did, shouldn't he be on the brink of death? What do you think, Amamiya? "

Looking over the picture taken by Itsuki, Felix admitted, " What you said seems plausible, but unfortunately, I have no way to prove it. " He concluded, sadly.

" Yes, you can. " Itsuki claimed. " You may prove your innocence, but only partially and I can help you. "

Curious about his intentions, Felix asked him, " Why are you willing to go this far for me after the terrible things I said to you? "

In response, he uttered, " If you must know, I'm not helping you, Amamiya. I'm only giving you a hand and as for my motive, let's just say, I owe you one, so I'm returning the favor. "

Convinced by his explanation, Felix asked, sternly, " What is it that I have to do to prove my innocence? "
