Misty Lake's Nine-Generations Elimination Game

"Whoa, the fog's so thick!"

"Feels like the hot spring room, but... creepier?"

"Remilia, you live near here, aren't you scared of ghosts?"

"Hah? Mere spirits are nothing before the Great Scarlet Devil!" Remilia puffed out her chest, oozing overconfidence.

Back in her territory, she felt invincible, ready to throw hands if Rin dared mess with her again!

The others rolled their eyes in unison, ignoring her bravado as they set up their picnic.

Meanwhile, Cirno and the other little ones charged into the mist, their laughter echoing eerily but brightening the gloom.

"Don't wander too far! You might fall in!"

"Okaaay~" Sakuya and Hong Meiling finished arranging the picnic, then headed off to the Scarlet Devil Mansion with the rest of the luggage.

Left behind, Remilia and Flandre tore into the toy packaging, eyes glinting with mischief.

'Time to launch the torpedoes.' Nearby, Rin pulled out a fishing rod, calmly attaching the bait.

Marisa blinked, then flinched..

"Boss… Why does that bait look like a firecracker?"

"Just a coincidence."

"And the fuse…?"

"A bit of fishing line got stuck. Didn't want to ruin the aesthetic."

"Are you here to fish or commit genocide?!" Marisa's eye twitched, watching as Remilia's group assembled their "strategic weapons."

This lake's about to become a warzone.

"Got any extra firecrackers?"

"Whole bag over there. And a few in my pocket."

"Sweet~" Marisa snatched a handful, then dragged a drowsy Reimu toward the lake.

"How can you sleep at a time like this?! Let's play!"

"You're way too hyper… Hey, Mom—"

"Just don't fall in." The shrine maiden smiled, peeling an apple as Reimu grumbled, now holding a lit firecracker.

"WHAT THE HE—?!" Reimu yeeted it into the lake.

Just as a fish leapt up, swallowing it mid-air.

BOOM!!!

The fish rocketed skyward, landing with a wet thud.

"..." Reimu and Marisa stared at the fish.

"Wanna try another one?" Predictably, the second fish met the same fate. This time, landing perfectly onshore.

"Dang, Reimu! You're a natural!"

"More like these fish have a death wish." Reimu picked up the fish, already imagining grilled lunch.

Their fireworks display seemed to ignite the battlefield—soon, the kids swarmed back, arming their weapons.

"Scarlet Battleship, setting sail!"

"Full speed ahead!"

"Cirno, any enemy sightings?"

"Nope, Captain!"

"Flandre, hard to starboard! Avoid the dead zone!" Remilia stood atop a rock, commanding her toy ship like a tiny admiral.

Meanwhile, Rumia's group adjusted their catapult, locking onto moving targets.

"Cirno! Load the ammo!"

"Here ya go!" Cirno cheerfully tossed in a few frozen frogs.

WHOOSH! SPLASH!!!

"HEY! AIM SOMEWHERE ELSE, YOU DIMWITS!" Remilia screeched as the waves nearly capsized her ship.

The girls pretended not to hear, reloading eagerly.

'Such a big target… How could they resist?' Seeing their sinister grins, Remilia panicked, yanking the ship into evasive maneuvers.

Rin, meanwhile, lit his bait's fuse and─

CAST! KABOOOOOM!!!!

A geyser erupted, soaking everyone.

Reimu and Marisa stood dripping, staring in disbelief.

"BOSS! GIMME SOME OF THAT EXPLOSIVE BAIT!" Marisa demanded, eyes gleaming.

But before Rin could respond—

"NOOOO—MY SCARLET BATTLESHIP!!!"

The toy ship listed sideways, cracks spreading as it sank beneath the waves.

Then— THUNK!

A salvo of frozen frogs finished the job, sending it to the depths.

"CIRNO!!! I'LL KILL YOU!!!"

"Eek! It wasn't me! Dai-chan fired them!"

"I DON'T CARE! YOU SUPPLIED THE AMMO!"

The two tumbled across the grass, rolling like feral kittens as the others pretended not to see, already reloading.

That direct hit had been too satisfying to stop now.

Amid the chaos, a sleepy figure trudged toward the lake.

Silver hair, red eyes, her white shirt and red overalls messily askew.

She glanced at the homework in her hand, then sighed deeply.

"Why… is everything so troublesome…?"
