Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [33]

Deep within Mt. Moon—Inside a Hollowed Tree Trunk.

A group of individuals clad in the signature uniforms of Team Rocket stood gathered in a concealed space within the tree trunk.

At the center of this group was a tall woman with mid-length, ash-gray hair.

If any Interpol agents were present, they would have immediately recognized her—one of the Three Beasts of Team Rocket, Sird.

However, their attention wasn't on Sird.

Suspended in midair, surrounded by these criminals, was a small pink feline Pokémon.

Despite being encircled by Team Rocket members, Mew showed no signs of distress. Instead, it nonchalantly clutched a piece of paper covered in notes and data within its tiny paws.

"Mew~"

After carefully scanning the contents, Mew casually used its psychic abilities to shred the paper into confetti. Then, it turned its large, round eyes toward Sird.

It didn't speak a word, but Sird instantly understood the message radiating from its gaze.

That's it?

A surge of frustration bubbled up within Sird. Seeing her painstakingly gathered intelligence dismissed with such blatant disregard irritated her to no end.

Yet, no matter how frustrated she was, she didn't dare let it show.

Because the pink troublemaker before her wasn't just any Pokémon—it had entered an agreement with Team Rocket.

Mew had even signed multiple contracts with Giovanni himself.

Compared to this mythical Pokémon, she—a mere executive—was nothing.

If things turned ugly, it was obvious who would end up on the losing side.

After carefully weighing the pros and cons, Sird took a deep breath, suppressing her irritation. Then, with a carefully practiced apologetic expression, she looked at Mew and said:

"My sincerest apologies, but given Team Rocket's current resources, we've only managed to narrow down the general location of the [Lustrous Orb]."

"As for the [Adamant Orb]… that will take a bit longer."

Her words were sincere—because they were true.

The [Adamant and Lustrous Orbs] were no ordinary items. As sacred relics tied to Dialga and Palkia, locating them was no easy task, even with Team Rocket's vast network.

No one, not even within Team Rocket, truly understood why Mew wanted these items in the first place.

But whatever its reasons, finding them was an enormous undertaking.

Mew studied Sird for a moment, as if assessing her honesty.

After a brief pause, it reluctantly nodded.

"Mew! (Hurry up!)"

Seeing that Mew wouldn't be pressing further, Sird couldn't help but exhale in relief.

But even so, an overwhelming sense of exhaustion washed over her.

Ever since this little ancestor had shown up at Team Rocket's doorstep to negotiate with Giovanni, her life had been hell.

From Ho-Oh to Celebi, from Xerneas to Yveltal… and now Dialga and Palkia.

Under Mew's orders, she had practically scoured the world for every legendary Pokémon.

And the most infuriating part?

She still had no clue what Mew was actually planning!

At this point, Sird had genuinely considered the possibility that Mew was just toying with her for fun.

If not for the fact that she also worked as an undercover agent for Team Galactic, she would have quit long ago.

After taking a moment to reflect on her miserable existence, Sird finally remembered to ask for payment for this mission.

Extending her hand, she watched as Mew hesitated for a second before carefully reaching toward its own long eyelashes.

Pluck.

With a tiny pop, Mew pulled out one of its own delicate, slightly curled eyelashes.

"Mew~"

Tearing up from the pain, the sulking Mew grumpily tossed the eyelash into Sird's hand.

Then, with an impatient flick of its paw, it gestured for her to get out.

Sird's eye twitched slightly, but she had long grown used to this little menace's personality.

Carefully tucking away the eyelash, she prepared to withdraw.

However, just as she turned to leave, a subordinate hurried over with a tablet, his expression grave.

"Commander, our intel team has just intercepted a report—Elite Four Lance has assembled a task force to apprehend us."

"Based on their travel timeline, they should already be near Mt. Moon. If we attempt to leave now, we might run straight into them."

Hearing this, Sird narrowed her eyes.

Although their main objective in Mt. Moon was to deliver intel to Mew, they had disguised their mission as a search for rare Pokémon.

She hadn't expected that even this cover story would attract an Elite Four's attention.

This made her suspect that Team Rocket had a mole within its ranks—someone who had leaked information to the League.

If that were true, then the people coming after them wouldn't be ordinary grunts.

In fact, Lance himself might be leading the charge.

After all, no amount of caution was too much when dealing with Team Rocket's ongoing collaboration with a Legendary Pokémon.

As an experienced criminal, Sird quickly ran through numerous possibilities in her mind.

Ironically, she never once considered that Lance might just be doing this to pad his performance stats.

After a brief moment of silence, Sird turned toward Mew with a serious expression.

"Mew?"

Mew blinked at her, visibly irritated.

Ignoring the annoyance, Sird pressed on:

"Our deal may have been compromised. The League has sent operatives to capture us."

"If possible… I'd like you to assist if I find myself in a losing battle."

Although Sird had her own trump card, she wasn't willing to expose it in a fight like this.

And since Mew was right here, it would be a waste not to use this legendary powerhouse as a shield.

If Mew agreed to help, even if Lance himself showed up, it wouldn't matter.

After all, no mere human could hope to match a Legendary.

Sird's mind raced with excitement.

However, upon hearing her request, Mew's annoyance deepened.

With an incredibly half-hearted wave of its paw, it signaled agreement.

Then, without hesitation, Mew used its psychic powers to toss every last Team Rocket member out of the tree hollow.

Once she was certain they were all gone, Mew carefully pulled out a small, translucent gemstone pendant and placed it around its neck.

The pendant was immaculately maintained—even the delicate thread holding it showed no signs of wear.

Mew stared at the pendant with a melancholic gaze, its large, watery blue eyes shimmering with nostalgia.

Then, dragging its long tail behind, Mew floated back onto its tiny hammock inside the tree hollow.

Curling up, it cradled the pendant close—as if embracing a cherished loved one.

What Mew didn't notice, however, was that shortly after it closed its eyes…

The long-dormant pendant began to emit a faint, pulsing blue glow.

And as time passed, the glow intensified.

---

While Mew snuggled with its pendant, Sird's worst fears came true—they were ambushed.

Hovering in front of her, a black-haired young man stared her down, his expression calm and unreadable.

Sird sneered.

So, Mt. Moon really had been sealed off.

Even though she had deliberately separated from her subordinates, trying to sneak out alone, she had still been caught by this psychic.

Which meant that on the other end of the mountain…

Her subordinates were probably in even worse trouble.

Maybe they'd even run straight into Lance himself.

Luckily, she had planned ahead.

All she needed to do was press her communicator, and Mew would come to her aid.

T/N: yes... press that communicator
