"Commander, we explored the whole area."

A soldier of the void approached Eleftharia, speaking in a strong and authoritarian voice, while demonstrating his immense respect for the person before him. Eleftharia opened her eyes, staring at the soldier before nodding.

"Anything to report?" Answered in a rather low voice, Eleftharia. His hoarse and broken voice made the soldier shake gently from the void as he lowered his head. She gently scratched her index finger on the cheek, as she gently yawned.

"No Ma'am, no sign of life. However, we found a blue gate at the entrance of the castle. We can't go through it, so we don't know what's on the outside."

Eleftharia nodded, stretching gently. She then ordered the soldier to bring everyone here to discuss the way forward. He quickly nodded and gathered his comrades. They all arrived quickly, lining up in front of Eleftharia, waiting for his orders.

Each of them stood proudly with their backs straight. It seemed that her soldiers were pretty well trained, and Eleftharia smiled at that fact. She seemed rather surprised, as her eyes glowed gently in the dark. She stared at her soldiers for a long time before speaking in a strong and authoritarian voice.

"Form two groups of five and show me what you're capable of," Eleftharia ordered quickly. A moment later, the Commander of the Void massaged her head. While these soldiers were highly trained, they were inexperienced in combat. They did not know how to handle their weapons or even move themselves properly.

A light glow appeared in Eleftharia's eyes, as the soldiers trembled with fear. They felt that their Commander was not satisfied with their performance. They lowered their heads quickly.

[System Notification! Intruders will come in 3 days, get your defense ready!]

A heavy silence ensued, while the trembling soldiers looked at each other. Eleftharia looked away, as she gently uttered the following words in a soft but terrifying voice.

"We have three days to make you competent soldiers."

The shadows of the void soldiers trembled as they began their infernal training with their Commander.

Three days later.

---------------------------------

It is now 3 days that the Legionaries of the Void have suffered because of the training of Eleftharia. Noises of metal rattling, rubbing against steel, and various sounds of training could be heard, while the Soldiers of the Void fought against each other, seemingly wanting to perform as much as possible.

Elephtaria's health did not seem to be improving. Even though she had been resting for three consecutive days, she did not seem to be able to recover from the damage inflicted by the system. However, she didn't seem to care. She gently looked at her men, appearing proud of them.

She smiled softly as she whistled. Soon, his 10 soldiers lined up quickly, looking straight ahead. Nothing seemed to have changed, but they were at least decent in combat from now on. Because they were Soldiers of the Void, rest and fatigue were not necessary for them. So, during these three days, they trained tirelessly.

Change of POV : Adam Korl

---------------------------------

"Hey, Adam! How are you, old man?" A deep and joyful voice startled me, as I grunted a name.

The man in front of me was a man in his fourties with a white beard and a closed face with a few wrinkles on top. With brown hair and almond eyes, the man was in pretty good physical condition for his age.

"Joseph," I said, in a rather sour voice, but full of a hue of joy. "How are you old branch? Still not dead to what I see!" A heavy laugh swells the air of the room, while the bar guests laugh softly.

"Well apparently not, as you can see. What about you? What are you doing? Have you been able to raise your rank since?" Joseph asked softly, as he took a light-colored chair and settled down near Adam. He gently raised his hand, as the bartender quickly understood and brought Joseph a glass of beer. He slowly began to drink it as he stared at his old friend.

"Always rank C, my friend, and I always do my best to support my family. I'm thinking of retiring soon like you, this hunter work becomes far too dangerous." I sighed softly. Indeed, the more time passed, the harder the portals became to conquer.

The E-ranked awakeners were almost no longer caught in the teams, while D-ranks served as human shields. From Rank C, it was the minimum threshold to be accepted into most groups without any real difficulty.

"Times have become tough, I understand. I mean, the next generation is here. Even as the dungeons get harder, the awakened also seem to get stronger. I heard that the S-Rank will become obsolete, they want to create a new class." Joseph shrugged his shoulders, as he displayed a happy smile on his face while drinking his beer. "How's your wife and children ? The little girl just woke up, didn't she?"

"Well, everything's fine. My wife is doing fine. My son find a job as hunter of rank A in a big renowned guild. I'm still very worried about him, but he's strong, so he should be okay. Concerning my daughter, she has indeed just been awake. She received Rank B directly. I am very proud of her," I say softly, a hint of pride in my voice for my two children.

"I'm happy for you, my friend." Joseph smiled softly, while he quickly finished his beer. "I mean, I'll leave you, don't die old branch. Don't forget you have to retire."

Adam nodded gently, as he paid the bartender quickly and walked out of the bar. He quickly headed home, as he passed a window. He looked like a young man in his thirties, with a rather smooth and chiseled face. Hair of blond color and sporty build. A notification appeared on his phone as he quickly read the message.

[Adam Korl, a C-level portal has just appeared in the neighborhood next door. Please be ready for your next raid in 3 hours.]

"A message from the association?" Adam sighed softly. "This will be the last portal."

Adam quickly returned home, while he quickly prepared for his last portal.

"Hello, sweatheart !" Adam spoke softly as he walked to the living room. Sitting there, a middle-aged woman was reading a magazine on the couch. She turned her head and smiled warmly at her husband. She looked like an angel straight down from the sky. Golden hair, green eyes, and incredibly beautiful white skin.

"Sweetheart, you're home!" She got up quickly and hugged her husband, kissing him warmly. "What was that day like ?"

Adam hugged his wife back and laughed softly. "Well, I went to the Association and then I went to see my old friend Joseph. Besides, I have my last conquest tonight! After I retire, this job is no longer for me."

"That's great news, I'm happy." She gently stroked Adam's cheek, as she came to kiss him one last time. "Go pack your things, I'll make a nice meal for tonight to celebrate!"

Adam quickly nodded and entered the room. A few minutes later, he came out equipped with a long sword and light armor. He sighed softly before looking at his wife and smiling.

"See you, Miss, I love you!" Adam looked to the side and stared at the picture of his children gently, before shaking his head and leaving quickly. He immediately closed the door.
