"Don't model after him. Just be my most sincere little puppy."
She then suggestively took Wylie's hand.
"Vivienne, why don't we send our own people to look? Maybe Alec is really angry since he's been gone so long."
Wylie's considerate demeanor was infuriating.
He killed me with his own hands, yet he can act so innocent. What a waste not to be an actor!
"What are you saying, Wylie? You deserve only the best in my heart!"
"I hope he's really dead, otherwise I'll make sure he knows the consequences!"
Vivienne gritted her teeth, missing the fleeting guilt on Wylie's face.
"But we can't find Alec now, so there's no way to force him out."
Wylie feigned disappointment, which brightened Vivienne's eyes.
An ominous feeling suddenly arose in my heart.
Sure enough, Vivienne threatened loudly:
"Alec, I know you're nearby."
"I'm giving you one last chance. If you don't come out tomorrow, I'll send your dear mother to keep you company!"
"After all, you've been secretly supporting her for so many years. You might as well have bought her life!"Vivienne let out a cold laugh as she dragged Wylie away, certain that I would appear because of my birth mother.
Before leaving, she had someone break the mute man's hand.
"This is what you get for helping that bitch to mess with me!"
I floated nearby, nearly going crazy with anxiety, but utterly helpless.
I hadn't seen my mom in years, and now she was about to suffer because of me.
I thought Vivienne had accepted my background when she found out I was secretly supporting my mom, but I never imagined she had this in mind!
If I were alive, I would've stepped out right then and there.
But I'm already dead!
The mute man was still whimpering, ignoring the pain in his hand as he made scooping motions towards the water.
Seeing him all battered and bruised, my heart ached.
Just for giving him a few meals of leftover food, he was willing to go to such lengths for me.
But Vivienne? No matter how much I gave, in her eyes I wasn't even worth one of Wylie's fingers.
Now, I no longer yearned for Vivienne's pathetic love.
I only hoped she still had a shred of conscience, and that everything she said earlier was just a threat.
But fate was cruel. When my mom was brought to the riverbank, I nearly lost my mind.I tried to reach out and untie the ropes binding my mom, again and again, but my hands just passed right through her body.
"Alec, I'm warning you - if you don't come out now, I'm going to send your mom down there to join you for real."
"I'll count to three. Three, two..."
The bodyguard pulled on the rope, seeming to draw it tighter and tighter.
My mom's white hair was a tangled mess, and her face had turned an angry purplish-red. She looked like she was about to pass out.
"Let go of my mom! I'm right here!"
I screamed at the top of my lungs, but it made no difference.
No matter how much I yelled until my throat was raw, in the end I could only watch helplessly as my mom collapsed.
"Stop faking it, old hag!"
