War and Peace

Lisa stormed back to her desk, her heart still pounding.

Felix Zheng was infuriating.

Rude. Cold. Dismissive.

And yet, when she stood up to him, he hadn't fired her or humiliated her in front of the entire company. Instead, he had simply said "Noted."

Noted?!

What did that even mean?!

Lisa plopped down in her chair, crossing her arms. Mei, who had been waiting anxiously, leaned in.

"You're still alive?" she whispered dramatically.

Lisa rolled her eyes. "Barely."

"What did he say?"

"He thanked me with his usual 'I-don't-care' attitude," Lisa grumbled. "Then told me not to waste his time."

Mei winced. "Yikes. But at least he didn't fire you?"

Lisa let out a small laugh. "Yeah. I guess that's progress."

Mei smirked. "Welcome to Z&K, where Felix Zheng is both our CEO and our biggest headache."

Lisa shook her head, sighing. "Honestly, I don't get how he handles so much pressure. He runs an entire company, takes care of his family, and still finds time to terrorize employees."

"Exactly," Mei agreed. "He's a genius, but he's also impossible."

Lisa had to admit—it was impressive. At only nineteen, Felix Zheng was already leading one of the top tech companies in China. But his attitude? Terrible.

She exhaled, pushing away her frustration. "Whatever. I have work to do."

Mei grinned. "That's the spirit. Just don't poke the bear too much."

Lisa smiled but thought to herself, I think I already did.

Lisa spent the next few hours completely focused.

She had been assigned another app review task, and this time, she made sure to double-check everything before sending any reports.

But as she worked, something felt… off.

She glanced around. Her team members were still busy, typing away on their computers. The office was normal.

Then why did she feel like she was being watched?

She turned her head slightly—and froze.

Through the glass window of the office, Felix was standing there.

Watching.

Lisa's heartbeat quickened.

Their eyes met, but he didn't look away.

Why was he staring at her? Was he mad? Was he testing her?

Lisa clenched her jaw and forced herself to focus on her work. If he wanted to intimidate her, he'd have to try harder than that.

Felix stood outside the development team's office, his sharp eyes locked on Lisa.

He didn't usually pay attention to new employees, but this girl was different.

She had challenged him.

She stood her ground.

And instead of running away after their confrontation, she was sitting there—working like nothing happened.

Felix tapped his fingers against the glass.

Interesting.

Most people either feared him or admired him. But Lisa? She pushed back.

He wasn't sure if that was annoying… or impressive.

A faint smirk touched his lips before he turned away.

Let's see how long she lasts.
