Unspoken Feelings

Lisa lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.

She had barely slept.

Felix's words kept repeating in her head.

"I don't do love, emotions, or attachments. This is just business."

She shouldn't care.

She shouldn't feel this tightness in her chest.

But she did.

She squeezed her eyes shut. Why did it hurt so much?

Lisa walked into the office, determined to act normal.

Felix sat behind his desk, focused on his laptop. He didn't even glance at her when she walked in.

"So we're just pretending last night didn't happen?" she thought bitterly.

Fine. Two could play that game.

She dropped a stack of reports on his desk. "Here's the data from last quarter. The game development team needs approval on their new project."

Felix finally looked up.

Their eyes met.

Lisa's heart did a stupid flip.

But Felix's face remained cold. "Leave it on the table. I'll check it later."

Lisa's fingers tightened around the file.

"That's it?"

She expected at least some reaction.

But he was completely unaffected.

She forced a smile. "Got it, Boss."

Felix's eyes narrowed.

There was something in her tone—something off.

Before he could say anything, Lisa turned on her heel and walked out.

If he wanted distance, she would give it to him.

Felix sat back in his chair, watching Lisa's retreating figure.

Something was different.

She was smiling, but it wasn't real.

And for some reason, that bothered him.

He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair.

This was why he avoided attachments.

Emotions made things messy.

He had made it clear to her.

So why did he feel like he had just made a mistake?
