A heavy silence hung in the chamber, thick with unseen tension. The words burned into the book's pages "THEY ARE ALREADY HERE." glowed ominously before fading into the parchment.
Evelyne's hands trembled as she traced the ghostly imprint where the words had been.
"They?" she murmured, voice barely above a whisper. "Who are they?"
Azrael's golden gaze was sharp, his expression unreadable. "That's what we need to find out."
Varian exhaled sharply, shoving his sword back into its sheath. "Fantastic. A cryptic warning from an angry book. That's not unsettling at all."
Evelyne shot him a look, but she couldn't disagree. Something about this felt wrong.
The war. The deception. The seal beneath the Underworld.
It was all connected.
And now, whatever force had been manipulating everything wasn't just watching anymore.
It was here.
Azrael turned to Evelyne. "The book reacted to you first. Try touching it again."
