1. The Message in Blood
Jinwoo stood over Min-jae's lifeless body, the blade still buried in his chest.
The shipyard burned behind him, flames licking at the night sky.
Dae-hyun's voice crackled through the comms. "We need to move, now."
Jinwoo didn't respond.
He reached into Min-jae's coat and pulled out a burnt envelope.
Inside was a single playing card.
The Black King.
But this time, something was different.
There was blood smeared across the surface… forming an address.
Jinwoo's breath caught.
This wasn't over.
The Architect was waiting.
And he had just left an invitation.
---
2. The Final Location
Hye-jin stared at the card in disbelief. "You're telling me this psycho just gave us his location?"
Jinwoo's eyes darkened. "No. He gave us a choice."
Dae-hyun scoffed. "A choice?"
Jinwoo flipped the card over.
On the back, in neat red ink, were four chilling words.
"Come alone. Or die."
Silence.
Dae-hyun ran a hand through his hair. "This is suicide."
Jinwoo slipped the card into his pocket. "Then let's make sure he dies first."
---
3. The Devil's Palace
The address led them to an abandoned hotel in downtown Seoul.
A relic of the past—crumbling walls, shattered windows, the faint scent of decay and regret.
Jinwoo stood at the entrance.
Hye-jin grabbed his arm. "This isn't a fight. It's a trap."
Jinwoo smirked. "Then I better not miss."
Without another word, he stepped inside.
---
4. The Architect Revealed
The lobby was silent.
Not a single sound. Not even a whisper of wind.
Jinwoo tightened his grip on his gun.
Then, a voice echoed from the shadows.
"You've done well, Jinwoo."
Jinwoo froze.
A man stepped forward, clad in a black suit, his face hidden behind a porcelain mask.
The Architect.
Jinwoo's grip tightened. "No more games."
The Architect tilted his head. "Oh, but the game has just begun."
Then, with a snap of his fingers—
The entire hotel went dark.
---
5. The Black King's Gambit
Jinwoo's instincts kicked in. Gunfire erupted from the shadows.
He dove behind a fallen chandelier as bullets shredded the air around him.
Flashes of muzzle fire lit the darkness, revealing masked gunmen hidden in the balconies above.
A perfect ambush.
Jinwoo smirked. They thought they had him.
Big mistake.
In one fluid motion, he pulled a flash grenade from his belt and threw it.
BOOM!
A blinding white light erupted, followed by screams.
Jinwoo sprang forward, gun raised.
Three shots.
Three bodies hit the floor.
He moved like a ghost, weaving through the chaos, taking down enemies one by one.
Then, in the center of the carnage, he saw him.
The Architect. Still standing, untouched.
Jinwoo's heart pounded.
It was time.
---
6. The Last Move
Jinwoo stepped into the center of the ruined lobby.
The Architect watched him, unbothered.
"You've come far," he mused. "But you still don't understand, do you?"
Jinwoo raised his gun. "Oh, I understand perfectly."
The Architect chuckled. "Then tell me… do you really think killing me will end this?"
Jinwoo hesitated.
Something was wrong.
The Architect's hand moved slightly.
A detonator.
Jinwoo's stomach dropped.
"Checkmate," The Architect whispered.
BOOM.
The explosion ripped through the building.
Jinwoo was thrown back, his vision blurring, ears ringing.
Through the smoke, he saw The Architect walking away.
Jinwoo coughed, blood dripping from his lips.
He struggled to his feet.
No. Not this time.
With the last of his strength, he raised his gun—
And fired.
One shot.
Straight through the Architect's chest.
The masked man staggered.
Then, slowly, he collapsed.
Jinwoo stumbled forward, standing over him.
Blood pooled around the body.
The Architect's mask had cracked, revealing his face.
Jinwoo's breath caught.
It was someone he knew.
Someone he never expected.
His voice was barely a whisper.
"…You?"
