Everything felt wrong.
Shade's body burned with raw power, his instincts screaming to let go. To stop fighting what was inside him.
To become unstoppable.
But standing in front of him?
Jade.
The only person who had ever seen him.
The only person who had ever loved him.
And she was ready to put him down if he crossed the line.
Selene sighed. "Darling, let's not be dramatic." She turned to Shade. "You don't have to fight her."
Shade's jaw clenched. "She's not wrong."
Selene arched her brow. "Oh?"
Shade met Jade's gaze. "I don't know if I can stop."
Jade took a deep breath. "Then I'll stop you."
Selene laughed. "You're going to kill the man you love?"
Jade didn't flinch.
"If that's what it takes."
Shade exhaled slowly. "You'd really pull that trigger?"
Jade's voice was quiet.
"…If you make me."
Selene smirked. "Then I suppose we'll have to fix that."
She snapped her fingers.
And the ground beneath them collapsed.
