Shade moved like a shadow, faster than thought, tearing through them. His own kind.
He ripped through one, his knife severing flesh. Another lunged—he ripped out its throat with his bare hands.
He wasn't fighting.
He was hunting.
Jade was at his back, covering him with gunfire. "Shade—"
Lucian's laughter echoed through the chamber. "YES! THAT'S IT! SHOW ME WHAT YOU REALLY ARE!"
Shade roared.
He lunged at Lucian, tackling him through the stone altar, slamming his head into the ground.
Lucian grinned through the blood. "Oh, my boy. You're still holding back."
Shade's veins turned black.
His eyes darkened.
And for the first time?
He let go completely.
