Chapter 27: The Truth

Brie’s POV

The best date of my life. Is it premature to say that considering it was technically the first date of my life?

I didn’t know what to expect when Lynx pulled up to the football field, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sunroof left the air with an open feel. I didn’t want it to end; the sound of his voice coaxed me into the deepest sense of peace. I haven’t stopped smiling since.

I really should fix that before I get to school. I’m sure Vic expected a rundown on the worst day of my life, and I couldn't lie about the night.

When I got home, my mother sat on the couch and waited for me to dish out everything. I almost did, but my father’s stern face proved that he wanted anything but. I settled on saying that Lynx was respectful and paid for my meal.

After our honest conversation, well, his honest confession in the car, we left to get burgers, fries, and milkshakes. I learned that even being the manly man that Lynx is, he freaks out over brain freezes.
