Chapter 22: Traitor

Brie’s POV

Vic hadn’t said a thing to me all day, but I felt the rage seeping from her body and penetrating the air. Its aura was full of tension and I’m not sure if I could say anything to change her mood. I could have simply shaken my head no at Lynx’s advance earlier, but I couldn’t. I wanted to go. I wanted to go out on a date with an attractive man who was interested in me. A man who wasn’t freaked out by my lack of talking but still actively tried to engage and get to know me.

Was that so wrong?

“Those Peaks’ are such a*sholes. How dare he corner you like that, but at least he’s gone, and I hope he’s left looking stupid when you don’t show up for that sh*t show of a date.” Vic finally spoke, her words standing on a wavering conviction. She was fishing for my true reason for nodding and accepting Lynx’s proposal.
