Chapter 30: Change of Heart

Brie’s POV

I had it all wrong. I wasn’t sure if I was more relieved or on edge at that fact. Vic had judged from her point of view, and I was no better than the rest of the town judging Lynx without allowing him a chance to explain himself. Lynx was far from innocent, but he wasn’t the monster that Vic sought him out to be. The only thing he was guilty of was not speaking up when offered the opportunity by the police. He knowingly lied and granted his father had instructed him to, he was an adult now and there was nothing keeping him from exposing the truth.

Oliver’s soft snores filled the room, and I smiled to myself. Oliver was a great guy; he reminded me of myself with the stuttering, but I hated what the accident had done to him. From what I gathered from both Vic and Lynx, Oliver was the smartest guy in town, wise beyond his years and now he was reduced. The curse of Riverback Heights stuck again.
