The old man's wrinkled hand extended, his bony finger pointing to a figure shrouded in shadows. "This is Raven, our resident telekinetic," he declared, his voice low and mysterious.
Maya's gaze followed the old man's finger, her eyes straining to see into the darkness. As her eyes adjusted, she made out the faint outline of a girl with piercing green eyes. Raven's gaze seemed to bore into Maya's very soul, making her shiver.
The old man's finger swept across the room, pointing to a figure standing by the window. "And over there, we have Phoenix, our fire wielder."
Maya's head swiveled, her eyes locking onto Phoenix. His skin glowed like polished bronze, his hair a wild tangle of flames that seemed to dance in the flickering candlelight. Maya's eyes widened in wonder, her mind struggling to comprehend the supernatural beings surrounding her.
As she glanced at Raven and Phoenix, Maya couldn't help but notice the life counts on their wrists. Raven's count read some unknown figures, while Phoenix's count read the same. Maya felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized that she was surrounded by people with extraordinary abilities, and that she could see the very fabric of their mortality.
The old man's eyes seemed to gleam with knowing as he watched Maya's reactions. "You're wondering what's going on, aren't you?" he asked, his voice low and soothing.
Maya nodded, her eyes wide with wonder. "What is this place?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The old man smiled, his eyes twinkling. "This is a sanctuary for supernatural beings like yourself, Maya. A place where you can learn to control your powers and understand your destiny."
Maya's brow furrowed. "My powers?" she repeated. "You mean my ability to see life counts?"
The old man nodded. "Yes, that's one aspect of your powers. But there's more to you than just that ability, Maya. Much more..."
Maya's eyes widened as she remembered the strange numbers she had seen hovering above people's wrist.
"But why?" Maya asked, her mind racing with questions. "Why can I see this?"
Phoenix, the fire wielder, spoke up. "We're not entirely sure, Maya. But we think it might have something to do with your connection to the supernatural."
Maya's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
The old man leaned back in his chair. "Maya, you're not like other humans. You have a special connection to the supernatural world. And that connection gives you certain... abilities."
Maya's mind was reeling with questions, but before she could ask any more, Lucifer appeared beside her, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
"Need some help understanding your powers, Maya?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
Maya's face burned with embarrassment. "I can figure it out myself."
Lucifer chuckled. "Oh, I'm sure you can. But let me ask you, Maya... have you tried to control your power? Have you tried to change the countdown?"
Maya hesitated, realizing that she hadn't tried to control her power at all.
Lucifer's smile grew wider. "I think it's time you learned how to control your power, don't you, Maya?"
She nodded her head in determination.
As Maya continued to learn more about her powers, the old man introduced her to more people in the Last Oracle's chamber. Lucifer ofcourse had vanished out of thin air. Again!
Maya shook her head trying to divert her focus on her surrounding. She was introduced to the Gods. She didn't knew there were more than one.
There was Elara, the goddess of the moon, who had the power to control the tides. There was also Kaito, the god of the wind, who could summon powerful gusts of air. Maya was amazed by the diversity of powers and the warmth of the people.
They all seemed to accept her as one of their own, and she felt a sense of belonging that she had never experienced before.
Just as Maya was starting to feel more at ease, a tall, handsome man with piercing blue eyes walked into the room. "Ah, Dominic," the old man said, smiling. "Welcome. We've been expecting you."
Dominic smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Sorry I'm late. I had some business to attend to." He caught Maya's eye and flashed her a charming smile. "And who's this beautiful young woman?"
Maya felt a blush rise to her cheeks as Dominic's eyes lingered on hers. She sensed that he was a god, just like Lucifer, and she couldn't help but feel a little intimidated. "I'm Maya," she replied, trying to sound casual.
Dominic's smile widened. "Enchanted, Maya. I'm Dominic, the god of life." He reached out and took Maya's hand, his touch sending a shiver down her spine.
Maya felt a surge of awkwardness. She didn't feel attracted to Dominic, but she couldn't deny the charm he exuded. She tried to politely extricate her hand from his, but Dominic held on for a fraction of a second longer than necessary.
"Sorry," Maya said, feeling a little shy. "I'm just a little...overwhelmed."
Dominic's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Of course," he said, releasing Maya's hand. "I understand. It's a lot to take in."
The old man cleared his throat, interrupting the awkward moment. "Dominic, why don't you tell Maya a little bit about your powers?"
Dominic nodded, launching into an explanation of his abilities as the god of life. Maya listened intently, trying to focus on Dominic's words rather than his charming smile. He was completely opposite of Lucifer. Where he was darkness, Dominic was light.
But she couldn't shake the feeling that Dominic was trying to flirt with her, and she wasn't sure how to react or How Lucifer might react to this... But then again, She doesn't owe Lucifer anything!
Except he have taken your first kiss and you are his as he never forgets to make sure you remember! - Maya's subconscious said in her thoughts. She felt blush creeping up her throat. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. What's happening?
